I anyone out there is that hell bent on a few saftey tech features and won't buy a Tacoma because of it. Are probably already shopping R1Ts or Lightnings, or any thing that has near self driving tech.

I prefer the rav4 blind spot mirror mod over the BSM if that helps you decide.

Agree, I’m not hell bent but for 40k+ part of me wants the basic safety features around for 10 years and pretty much standard at this point. I’m probably going to go without given the limited to no availability right now in this trim.

Yes BSM is not important to me mostly cross traffic and parking assist is what I use and would like.

Give me simplicity with less to go wrong. If you really want a truck now and waiting bothers you, get it. If not wait for the 2024 model. Get the truck YOU really want, who cares about future resale or what others have.

I got mine right as the car market started going wild and new cars were is short supply. Didn't really have the patience to wait for the perfect package. My prior car was totaled and I was running out of time with my insurance covered rental car. So when my dealer called and had a white short bed TRD off road i said i'll take it.

Had i have time to order one or not be rushed i would opt for the tech package but i don't feel cheated not having it. This was my first brand new vehicle that was newer than a 2011 so the base package had more features than I was used to.

I’m trading in a 2017 ZR2 for a 23 Sport and I had a really hard time finding any of these packages in a double cab. I had none in my ZR2 and wasn’t going to get a new truck without them. I was about to give up on a new Tacoma and started shopping the Frontier Pro4x, just as I was ready to give a deposit on a Nissan my Toyota dealer found me an allocation for a loaded silver sport. Silver wasn’t my first choice and it appears I will have to take the factory tonneau cover but I have all the tech packages I want. I’d say patience and tell your dealer you won’t settle.

I think looking at the websites of Toyota dealerships within a 60-70mi radius to see what they have allocated is a good idea. I believe the dealerships that sell the most vehicles will be the ones that have more allocated to them.

Like you I wanted a fully loaded sport (with a 6MT), unlike you I was willing to wait; I put a deposit in February, got an allocation in August, and picked up my Tacoma (second choice color) in October. Well worth the wait.

and you got my favorite color! I was up against my ZR2 is showing signs of costing me money to keep it running and it does have a very high trade in value so I didn’t want to chance anything happening to it Still waiting on my Tacoma so I’m not there yet

I opted not to get the tech package. It was much harder to find an allocation with it. I had rear bumper sonar and whatnot on my old full-size truck, and while it was nice, it certainly wasn't a dealbreaker to get into a '23 OR DCSB!

I put the deposit down on my Tacoma back in February, I asked for a fully tarted up model, complete with the Advanced Tech Package and a 6MT in Blue Crush Metallic, with Windchill Pearl and Barcelona Red as second choices for color. My dealership got an allocation in early August for the exact build I was looking for except in the BCM color, needless to say I jumped on it. M wife (a "fashionista" with years of design experience in the industry) was initially scandalized by the fact I was getting a red truck, but now that it's hear it has grown on her so much she recently said, "I'm glad you didn't get the blue or white(ish) trucks." :)

I'm always surprised that this isn't the standard. No more blind spots! You can essentially see a full 360 degrees with your peripheral vision and mirrors. Yet 99% of drivers don't adjust their mirrors like this.

Agree with most others here. No need to debate each option, just wait for what YOU want (if you can), especially if you intend to keep the vehicle a long time. I had my last truck for 24 years so I searched nationwide for weeks and flew 650 miles to get what I wanted (Access cab with all the tech options in a non-basic color for ‘close’ to MSRP). No regrets.

I really like the BSM, especially with a full truck (passengers/gear) in the backseat (DCSB). Some of the things I thought were technology package were just "standard", so my favorite things weren't that special :anonymous:

(I love the adaptive cruise and auto high beams).

I agree on everything you said, except the adaptive cruise, that sucker really pisses me off whenever I forget to hold the On/Off button for 1.5 seconds.

I've heard folks dislike it - I set it to the shortest following distance, and I love it. On the longest (default) it is REALLY annoying. I also have an MT, so it can't "outsmart" me and hunt gears while doing it, which might be a difference too.

Yeah, I'm rockin' the 6MT as well. I also set the distance to the shortest; the biggest issue I have with it is when the boy racers slice in and out of traffic and cut closely in front of me, the truck literally slams on the brakes, even though the idiot is moving much faster than me. Up here in New Hampshire, we have a term called "Massholes", and yeah, nine times out of ten, when I get cut off, the car has Massachusetts plates.

Aftermarket bumpers often aren't compatible. I decided to go with the Rav4 blindspot mirrors as an alternative.
