A previous owner of my house (about 40 years ago) was a ham radio enthusiast and had a tower antenna. It seems that he had 1) illegal power 2) no licence.

So the FCC came along one day and 1) shut him down 2) seized his equipment 3) probably slapped him with a healthy fine. The tower remained.

Back in the good old days of analogue TV I got excellent reception with a simple antenna up there and also used it as a handy ladder to get on the roof.

I don't climb it anymore, my gyro isn't very good anymore so my balance and coordination are lacking, I would probably fall and break my neck. :bananadead:

it's bigger and more obnoxious than any other roll bar setup. but they had the forethought to at least make some big holes in it so it can at least be used for a tiedown point. that's assuming it actually bolts to the bed well enough, which given the aesthetics, could be doubtful.

looks like that's an ADD chase rack
    https://www.addictivedesertdesigns.com/products/race-series-chase-rack_c115802800103

according to the ADD page pictures from other angles, there's zero rear window protection, which, for nearly $6k with a light bar, seems like a massive oversight.

nope, not both anymore. definitely leaning towards Dork.

my parents taught me indirectly the worthlessness of the news. they always tried staying up every night to catch the 10:00 news to see the weather for tomorrow. but between the top headlines, the fluff pieces, and the commercials, they always passed out by the time the weather guy showed up. i used to watch just so they'd have to ask me and i could hassle them about it!

these days, i've got google news feed to throw the major headlines my way. still keeps me up to date on the major stories, and i can skip all the human disinterest stories.

in hindsight, we really would've been lucky if that had really happened...

They were calling for some mixed precip around here, but it didn't do anything. Went up and over the mountain and they salted the snot out of it even though it did nothing. Got salt all over the Subaru for nothing... :annoyed:

:gossip: I understand what you mean by the warm beer thing. Some German beers taste better at 40-45°F. Still feels cool to the mouth.

What is the point of that light bar on the roll bar? It's shining across the roof. There is no way it will light up what is in front of you...unless you are a 'coon hunter. Shine the trees, find a coons eyes reflecting back at you, cut the dogs loose.

I'm kind of ashamed I'm commenting on this abortion, it's useless...unless the plan is for to use it as sexual repellant.

Good luck Jeff at your new station. Something new and exciting.

No luck hunting this weekend. Might get an afternoon after work this week.
Finally getting a cool spell down here. Coolish 75/60.

Pretty proud of that capsule that landed in the Pacific today.

    you misunderstand!

peacock feathers are technically useless. they don't make the bird fly any higher or make it faster. they don't offer any sort of camouflage to it's environment.

but they do make a great show for the lady peacocks.

that's exactly what that truck is. a show-off that he's either mortgaged it out beyond his future great grand kids, or is so stinkin' rich that he no longer needs any common sense and can afford terrible decisions. like 3 ex-wives. while looking for #4.

If any lady finds that monstrosity attractive and ensues a romantic relationship, then I'm pretty sure she is his cousin.
