It’s been 3 years since I’ve bought a set of bilsteins. But they did come with them back then. Oh well. Just means the front can’t be finished tonight

Yea… that’s mildly annoying. Sets me back till Tuesday. But oh well. Leaf’s are on, control arms are on. Tomorrow I’m going to snag my 2wd spindles and the 8.4” axle housing to make it a roller. Then get the 98 here and pull the motor and transmission. Re seal the engine, do the fluids, put it on the new frame then get the frame and the truck to the glass shop to use the lift

As far as I get today… my vin apparently calls out 5 lug body mounts and transmission mount… odd. I’ll get cleaning and paint the top of the frame where the coatings rubbed off.

That would be a great idea that I wouldn’t stop. I rather see trucks survive than get parted out

I would need a new core support and a BFH. I have most the front end off a 2004. I can make it a frankentaco.

I just realized they are both V6 MT trucks. The 96 after it was rolled.

Turd gens are useful for somthing! Going through my frame plug kit leftovers. Goal is to plug as many holes on the top and sides as possible to keep crud out. Bottom holes left open for drainage of anything that does make it in

Huh, did you keep a tally of what parts you used? Quantity and part number? That looks like a good idea.

    update post:
My reverse lights were not coming on, I noticed now that it gets darker at 5.
I heard there was a switch that gets hit when you put the manual trans in R so I started at the top....
    post3.jpg

While I was in there I decided to clean the carpet, smells better that is for sure. but no visible switch there under the rubber accordion looking thing. So I watched this great vid. (I did search here on TW but nothing useful found)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhVIiXD1PsY

Now I had bought this electric cleaner the other day for a different project and thought I would try it, and it worked!! my reverse lights are back to working after I cleaned and reinstalled. and when they stop working again, I will know either to clean them again or buy a new switch.

I'm deciding to take the R in TRD as seriously as I can. this is what I used on my gofastdowheelies bike that I used to own.

Unfortunately they come in bags for the kits. No individual numbers

I imagine you have an idea of which kits would be needed if someone wanted to plug a first gen frame. I see two numbers right there but I'm guessing not all of the plugs would fit a first gen and perhaps others (different kits) would be needed. :notsure:

Spent more time cleaning everything than pulling it apart. Shit better run amazing haha

    20221211_084846.jpg

All buttoned up minus one "oversight"

Went with a factory rad since it was the same as the Napa. Got a manual specific one it seems since it has no extra ports to plug up on the bottom and it's shorter than the Denson the PO had installed. But... I only got a new top hose sooo... another trip to Toyota is happening tomorrow. So close to getting it working again, yet so far!
    20221211_084858.jpg
Lots of little quality things from the Denson labeled one to the one from the stealership. Minus they are both plastic and aluminum, the factory seems to be better quality overall.

All mine are leftovers from frame plug installs. The kits come with pretty much all the plugs, but some aren’t needed and end up in this box newer trucks not being boxed frames also means there’s not a whole lot of plugs compared to what a 1st gen needs
