Any hybrid smallish trucks out there other than the Maverick?

Yea, I know folks will say that's more of a car with a bed.

But hey, I like my 5 lug, so there is that.

I saw one in XL trim the other day and it caught my eye enough to research it some. I could never make a financial justification based on MPG, because I just don't drive it enough to matter. The 5 lug is a '13 with only 40k on it.

However, it's getting close to time that one of the grandsons may try to con me out of it. Or maybe not. I just need to be aware of options. The Maverick price is good and has more than enough gizmos for me.

No, not enthused about a move to FoMoCo. Thus asking if there are similar products in the market or on the horizon. Some quick searches didn't turn up anything.

NOT interested in an EV or a plug in hybrid.

The Maverick is the most utilitarian city runabout on the US market today. And for that, I think it's a wonderful idea.

Everything else is a weekend picnic machine. Santa Cruz and Ridgeline

Aren't they EV? Not interested. Also not interested in a start up company.

Not to mention what I just peeked at is about $80k over a Maverick. :goingcrazy:

The owner wasn’t as impressed either for the money. He said it was a cool around town truck that’s quick, but that’s about it.

Toyota has said that they are going to come out with something like it in a few years. I have a '22 Camry Hybrid and a '22 RAV4 Hybrid, both have been great and get better than their MPG ratings. The wife drives like pure shit and has still managed a consistent 40MPG, in the RAV4. I get mid 50's in the Camry. Those are hand calculated numbers, not the optimistic numbers the car tells you. The car is always off by 1-2%

All of the mavericks I had seen in my area had such high markups that it negated it’s main selling point. That the lower trim is a 20k truck. At MSRP it seems like a great deal and they look pretty good too. The Santa Cruz looks terrible. Hopefully Toyota gets in the game.

We have a '14 RAV we like pretty well, and have considered moving that to the hybrid RAV. However, I'd like to find a CUV with a more adjustable passenger seat, including lumbar. That's pretty rare on these 'lower end' lines. May have to hit an upholstery shop for an adder

The maverick seems like the perfect city truck, until you look at some trim models and find that the price is more than I paid for my truck by a mile.

Carvana has a 2022 maverick with 3k miles on it for $41,990. I paid $36.5 for my truck new last year.

Top end Maverick new is around 30. For those of us who don't need glam or 4wd, 22 is a closer number.

Carvana is fishing for PT Barnum's friends.

I actually just got mine (after a year wait from ordering to delivery). It's a sweet little ride... far more comfortable than my 2nd gen, more than double the MPGs, and... rear disk brakes, suckers. lol

XLT with lux package and a few other options, about $30K out the door.

I suspect it won't hold it's value like the Taco, but at this point I'm really happy with it.

Looks like a decent truck to tool around town in. I hope it holds up for you. It would definitely scrape a few places down my 4-mile dirt road to the house.

The maverick looks cool in XL trim with the steel wheels.

I'm a Toyota nut, but have heard really nothing but good things about the Maverick.
For people who want the bed for light utility (maybe stuff too dirty for a hatchback/small crossover), it really works.
Ridgeline styling sucks; SantaCruz might be OK but I can't wrap my head around a $40-$45k Hyundai.

The issue is going to be finding a Maverick at/near MSRP, for which you don't have to wait a year.

If I'm you, OP, I'd keep the '13 5 lug as long as humanly possible. Tell those grandkids to get their own!
