There’s a couple of things here. In my first comment I was mainly talking about the bodywork, sorry for the misunderstanding. Toyota wanted thousands and Maaco did it for $680, it’s worth that even if I had to get the door repainted. Second, and I’m flat out shocked about this, when I took those pics it was hours after they painted. Today you can’t tell a difference. I’m not sure whether it was the reflection of something or the paint needed to cure more but it seriously looks great now! I’m more than pleased at the new development. I ordered everything during Black Friday, mostly from Toyota. I think I have everything now to start putting it back together BUT big game this weekend (Go Dawgs) so it might be next week before finishing up.

I'd think that pulling the engine out of the truck first and then setting it into the new frame would be more ideal rather than relying on the fender aprons to support all that engine/trans weight. Kudos to you for doing such an awesome repair job.

yes, it drives fine. I drove it on and off the rollback and around the backyard. Can’t put it in the road yet but I don’t see or feel any issues

yeah it’s in the backyard. Don’t know what I’ll do with it, the front half is good so maybe marketplace? I plan on asking the inspector if a welded frame would’ve passed

It’s really not a big deal. I didn’t put it on the fender themselves but the body support underneath the fenders. Doing it the way I did means I didn’t have to break the AC system, trans lines, wiring harnesses… It saved lots of work and money. If someone else does it with a bigger garage I’d say hang the motor by an engine hoist instead of the support I used, I just didn’t have the room. There’s a YouTube video of a guy doing it this way on an older Tundra. I wanted to make a post with more detail.

Very nicely done! Seems like a great vehicle for a flatbed conversion, if you're inclined to.

Someone is selling a silver bed in Forth Worth, TX in the 3rd gen classifieds. Not exactly the sport bed with painted fender flares though.

    Well that is different...

    Are the tail lights identical?

If this is for your personal use and the tailgate operates properly I would just leave it and see how many people notice.

We have seen pictures where brand new trucks had Off Road decals on one side and Sport on the other, you could tell people it came that way from the factory.

What the, why is the driver side rear fender different from the passenger side? It looks like some work was done to that corner above the taillight.
