CATALYTIC CONVERTER SHIELD FITS 2016 - 2023 TACOMA

Caliraised should have known at that price point it would sell like hotcakes. The lack of testing and knowledge on how it will fit and what it will fit is crazy. That should have all been tested and their inventory should have been better before putting this item for sell. That’s just my 2 cents.

 

I emailed them as that's how they said they want to be contacted. The reply I got was we'll ship it out soon. There was no explanation or accountability as to what happened to my order tho. I'm using this forum to bring attention to it because A) I think others should know that they don't ship out in the order they were paid for, while they hold your money, and B) if it wasn't for this thread, I wouldn't even know that I was skipped over. But now I do.know, and that's bad business. I DGAF if I get the product or my money back at this point, but it's not cool to keep me and the others who also got skipped over in limbo.

 

I received neither a tracking number nor my order. HOWEVER, Cali Raised has been keeping me apprised via posts here on TW, and made sure my truck is 4x4. I have every reason to believe they will send my order when it’s ready.
I’m not throwing temper tantrums and whining about some misconstrued measure of customer service.
You really should just ask for a refund and go get something else. You’re clearly not happy.

 

Or at least wait until the next business day, rather than complain through the weekend.

I did my install this afternoon. I didn’t use ramps and I was able to install them with only a little frustration getting the driver side in.

 

I know it did not say 'Lead Time: 2 Weeks' at time of when I placed my order. My order was placed on Dec 1st, I was charged on Dec 1st, so I waited until Dec 7th to email them on status of my order, the reply was, "Did you confirm 2WD or 4WD?" I replied I had no such email inquiring 2WD or 4WD, mind you their website still states "Note: We are currently working on the 2WD model. It will be available by January." So I was a bit confused if I ordered correctly and double checked the order and website before replying that I did not get an email asking of 2WD or 4WD, but in fact it's 4WD.
I got a rely:

"Perfect I added that to your order. But, Our Tacoma Catalytic Converter Shield does have a 2-week lead time, starting when you placed your order. When shipped we will provide a tracking number that will be sent via email. This is a brand-new product, with high demand so we want to ensure the product is perfect in all stages. Thank you for choosing us, and please let me know if you have any other questions!

So I am awaiting these parts along with all of you. I'm just bothered with the fact that they would charge as soon as order was placed rather than when the part is being shipped.

 

Just to be clear, is it illegal for a business to charge for a product before it’s shipped?
Should dealers hold your truck until you have paid it off?
Fab shops like caliraised make most products once someone orders it, although they may have small quantities in stock. It’s not cost effective to spend thousands on materials and labor to stockpile a product that they have no idea on market demand. Some products take off and some don’t.
It’s simple supply and demand plus business management.
Now for the people complaining about the delay, caliraised has been upfront about what’s going on. They noticed a problem on their initial batch and they are correcting it before they ship more out and have unsatisfied customers. There’s a reason why people hold off on initial product releases.
Other people spend thousands on products with no clear eta in sight, but they do it because they know they’re buying a good product. People should reevaluate their finances if they’re complaining about $200 and a two week lead time.

Just my two-cents...but it's obvious that the product was not ready for market, that their website wasn't clear about 4WD vs 2WD, and the communication with customers is lacking. And no this forum is NOT the correct means for a business to communicate with customers.

Most recently I’ve tried contacting your team via the sms/chat feature on your website, it was 3:30pm PST on Friday so I assume that’s why I didn’t get a proper reply. I’ll wait a while before reaching out to your team a fourth time.

 

I am so torn on these cat shields. I live in a small town and don't know of a single person who has had their cat stolen, but for ~$200 and an hour of my time, it seems like a no brainer. I just hate throwing money away if I don't need to though.

 

Maybe not that you need them but a bit of peace of mind knowing that there's a higher chance they will steer away from stealing them seeing the shields.

Hey, what do you know! I placed my order on 11/18, and just got an email with a tracking number a few minutes ago! I wonder if I should be angry and pissy, because my stuff didn’t ship sooner? Oh! Oh! Maybe I can whine because there was a delay? Nah. I’ll just be pleased. That is all.

I’d love to hear if there’s any stories about thieves out there actually defeating the deterrents. I ordered my set because someone tried to steal my cats when I was visiting a state park last year. Broad daylight on the side of the road, I’m sure something like this product would’ve been enough to make them think twice.
