Jim Rockford was the best private eye show of all time in my book.

People didn't pay him, he got roped into jobs he didn't want just because it was the right thing to do, the police didn't like him, he got his @$$ kicked regularly, car crashed, his place trashed -- the dude seriously didn't have much good going on, someone you could genuinely believe in and root for.

James Garner was a world class driver too, he was driving the Firebird for almost all of the stunts.
He personally picked the car out, it was a top level Formula 455 model dressed down to look like a budget Esprit model. The color was custom mixed, not a factory color.

 

The same way Blevin watches old cop shows my wife the nurse loves watching medical dramas and then tearing them apart...

"They should've called in metohydranol the first day they were admitted"

 

He always reminded me of what Elvis would do if he was alive, hide in plain sight

I notice when the post production added vehicle sounds are generic stock and don't match the vehicle or when vehicles are swapped during the filming.

Mrs Green isn't an gear head however -- prudence keeps my observations to myself.

 

I’m guilty of that too lol.

There are a few of the older cop shows that got it mostly right procedurally.

 

He never had to. Kinda like Barnacle Jones. Thieves, criminals, Robbers all just stopped in their tracks. Back when they were respectable & had a reputation to protect.

 

Who got it right -- and who got it the most wrong?

 

I'm the same. Don't show a v6 camaro go cruising by and then swap in a v8 sound. Gear heads know!

 

And even the bad guys wore a sport coat and tie when beating the snot out of poor Joe Mannix, he took more beatings than many of the others combined.

My wife called everyone on Gray's Anatomy "bed hopping sluts". I think she watched a whole 2 episodes before she couldn't take it any more.

Watching movies with her she'll say things like "you don't shock that heart rhythm" and "did they just not bother to have a medical consultant on set?"

She still says the hospital show that was the most accurate was Scrubs.

 

Nothin’ shocks the heart rhythm like Bed hopping sluts. Enough to bring a dead man back to life even.

 

Who would really need CPR with the right care giver...

 

Having worked in EMS for over 20 years.. I can tell you I have never once seen anyone look like that .. no nurse.. no EMS.. no Doctors... and having done CPR for real over 50 times in my career.. it definitely takes more than some big boobs.

 

Best "cop" series ever. I also liked "Monk".

 

That was the problem I had with that series (and I liked it. A lot!). The practical side of my brain could never wrap itself around the whole, "If he never gets paid, how does he live?" concept. Don't ask me why it never had a problem when he got beaten up by 2-3 thugs, and then just stood up, shook it off and carried on...

 

Never watch a submarine movie with me.
