It’s for personal use but it’s got to go through inspection to get a rebuilt title so that fender won’t pass. To get another from Toyota it’ll be $680 plus another $400 to get it painted

No work was done just the fender is from a 2017 and apparently Toyota changed the rear design between then and 2021

I have a 2017, my rear fenders does not look like that. 20210205_141422 (1).jpg

The rear design has been this way since 2016, so all 3rd gen Tacomas are identical.
As the bodyline flows into spoiler shape of the tailgate.

Do you have a wider shot of the fender?
If it is from a 2017, then that corner clearly had some work done to it.

It is cosmetic, nothing to do with safety.

Maybe slip the inspector a Franklin for a little leniency... :gossip:

I would be tempted to take it to body shop, have them match it. Idk....

I was going to say, I cant imagine that would cause the inspection to fail but idk

It’s an older fender that’s obviously had work done but it’s the original design, nobody added the ridge where there should be a slant. Maybe the guy lied about the year or something. I’ll have to see what the actual deal is so I can hopefully resell it.

I’ll do it when I get home. Just a question, have you thought about selling that 2021 frame to get the right one for that year? Those frames are going for a premium because they are back ordered so far you can’t even get an eta and the cost is around 7k. I got very lucky by finding a good one that had an engine fire.

It’s a damaged frame. Plus finding a used 07 frame out here is hell

I replaced it under an insurance job. Last feb

The seller lied, return it for a full refund and maybe even the cost of painting it.

From the shot you provided it looks like the 3rd gens Taillights bolts right up to a 2nd gens fender. That's surprising.

It was used and came with the tub from marketplace. To return it would mean U-Haul, removing it from the truck, time wasted and I’d still lose the paint money and that’s even if he’d take it back which I’m sure he wouldn’t. It’s less of a hassle to just buy a new fender

Hopefully you can resell it and make up the cost for it.

Back in the day...I replaced the whole front clip on a totaled car, took it to a friends body shop to be painted and somehow they were able to get a clean title but, then it was the early 80's.
