yeah that design is minimal added strength but alot more damage if the stresses are right. plus you are 100% gonna have to cut them out to remove the rack.

The double shear seems pointless without the 3rd mount, which is near the center of the rack on the back side. But, as I have thought about this setup, it seems to be addressing the symptoms and not the root issue, because now instead of the rack sliding side to side, destroying the bushings, it is going to stress the housing of the rack itself and ultimately crack the housing.

Think I'd like a solid bushing for the passenger side.
If someone is going to have one made I'd like to get one too.

I asked Marlin and they confirmed that the rack can be removed without taking the double shear tabs off.

You are right. They said "Even without the double shear tabs installed, you will need to remove the differential before removing the rack."

That is incredibly inconvenient, making on the trail repairs quite difficult.

The fact a steering rack is considered a trail repair on a second/third gen is comical.

I don't know if a steering rack is a common repair, I was just thinking it seems to make things harder requiring the diff to come out first. Marlin clarified though, that the diff needs to come out first for all RCLT compatible trucks, even in stock form. So RCLT isnt limiting things here.

you can do it with the front diff in. It's tricky but doable.

Hahaha, I did the rack in my second gen on the shop floor and this was how I felt about it. I’ve bee completely spoiled by TC pumps, IFS boxes and hydro assist that require no wrestling matches to remove

Yes but it wasn’t ever going to come off in the truck. Had to hammer it off on the work bench due to being rusted on the rack

My stock rack came out easy from the front side of the truck, and Tundra rack wiggled in after lifting the motor about an inch. Thats with the shitty 3.5 too

Will rclt be able to handle 52s without a cab mount chop? Will I have to limit up travel? Can the oem rack handle if I get tie rod reinforcements?
    Thanks!
