Looking at bed length for the new Tacoma. Originally wanted Long bed because I will use it to move stuff and that 'extra' foot is always handy but also plan do some Offroading. The major issue and I want to hear from others is garage parking. LB sits at 225.5" and I have probably 228.5" of usable space which with the Long bed will only have close to 1inch clearance on both sides.. will this drive me nuts just trying to fit it all the time? I've attached a reference image. Short bed would allow enough room to walk by the vehicle. In this measurement I already allotted a 1" clearance from the back wall.

Unless you place a wheel chuck or equivalent, you will likely hit the wall one day with the LB. Yes, LB will be a bit more limiting in the trail but I am glad I got the LB.

one inch to wall in front, 3" at overhead door. This is shallow side of garage. No need to walk around.

Yes, wouldn't own a short bed. Need the extra room. If I wanted to walk around I can move it to other side, 3ft deeper

    Get the DCLB.

You’ll get used to parking it in the garage over time.

I think my garage is the same size as your's OP! I went with the short bed as i wanted a manual OR but yeah that looks tight.
Remember to factor in things like a front license plate bracket that the dealer might install that will make your truck longer when trying to park.

I bought mine waterproof so I can park it outside. Was a low price add on.

I back my Access Cab into my garage. I have a 2 x 4 positioned so my back tire will touch the 2 x 4 then I roll forward a tad. Never hit the wall yet. Backup cam helps too. I still have room to walk around the front on my truck with the garage door closed. My wife pulls her Corolla in front first. Both our driver side doors open at the center of the garage, which is convenient going into the house.

It is wise you are giving this some thought before buying. I did the exact same thing.

Yeah I've been internally debating for a long time and the availability of the shortbox kind of made it easy and was about to get it before the dealer sprung on me that it would not have the tech package included. Now I came across a long box with what i want and have to go through this all over again haha. Shortbox obviously wins in the garage arena but the actual use of the truck I dont think a shortbox is best.

Trying to find as many people and opinions of those that fit these things in tight garages as possible

Another thing to consider parking in a garage is the turning radius of the LB vs the SB. When the aisles and spots are really narrow, it's tough for me to nail the parking job on the first try and usually need a second crack to make sure the truck isn't cockeyed

Short bed in our garage. Plenty of room in the front to get around it. The bumper has 2” to the garage door. Have the rear camera and line up the bumper with the black stripe on the floor to make sure she’s in. A119A6DF-AD9F-4856-9691-AE97661A0C09.jpg

My LongBed sits outside in the driveway.
I applied McGuire’s synthetic wax and re-coat every 6 months. It still shines nicely after 4 1/2 years.

I have nothing useful to add. I bet the extra foot of bed is handy, long beds look super disproportional though.
