I'm betting it's still not back on by 10am tomorrow.

 

It’s actually awful how it currently mounts. These booger welds aren’t going to hold and one has already cracked on the passenger side. Welding the 4Runner frame caps onto the Tacoma frame was a bad idea. Far too thin for this bumper.

Basically cutting this all off and making something to mount to a build your own bumper bracket. Anything other than this will be an improvement.

I think integrating my massive Ramsey worm gear winch into this setup isn’t in the cards. I’ve debated on just welding that thing into a bolt on cradle underneath my flatbed to utilize the empty space. A spare tire over 30” doesn’t fit.

So...it's just a plate attached to the face of the frame horns? And what looks like flat stock bolted to that plate attached to the frame horns?

Yup. That’s how it was on the 4Runner I pulled it off of. Major letdown. The new mounting point will be higher up which will be helpful attaching to that main tube on the bumper.

1/4”. When I intended on putting the Ramsey winch on this truck I knew I needed a solid anchor point. This will do the job. Was like ~$200 a while back which is awfully expensive. But now all I have to do is make the bumper bolt onto it.
