Would think only a 180 can mount on a roof rack since a 270 needs to wrap around the back.

This is what I came up with to mount my 270 awning to my mid height rack. it is a work in progress, But since these pictures where taken I added a corner gusset to the brackets to help support the weight.

    Awning clears the door.

    20221129_190735.jpg

Sticks a bit far out since I was trying to see how much room I needed to work the cover on an off.

I am going to slide the brackets under the tent rail and Add some spacers on the passengers side to keep the tent level.

Anyone have 2 tents on their truck?

Trying to avoid buying a trailer and wife doesn’t like ground tenting. Second tent for the kids and will go on cab roof rack so weight isn’t an issue.

I saw this in Switzerland haha. I'm sure it's possible with a Tacoma.
Your truck will be close to it's weight limit I bet with 2 tents, a family, and all the gear.

How far are you trying to go and how cold can you put up with lol

Desert camping is always nice, joshua tree has some nice dispersed spots outside of the park. Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear are also not too bad if you can do cold camping. Otherwise if you don't wanna deal with snow you'll probably want to stick to the desert. Santa Barbara has some really nice spots as well

    Hi all!

I have a Tepui Kukeman 4 and I HATE the aluminum channel slider it uses to attach to the racks. Has anyone made or knows of a more durable option?
I feel like every time I take the tent off, the bolt head strips the aluminium. For reference this is what I am referring to

    Thanks @honda50r for the photos

Those are what most soft shell tent manufacturers use. Maybe grab a set of replacements?
I’ve taken my tent off maybe a total of a dozen times and only had one bolt spin a little in there and wallow it a little.

Those look just like the smittybilt ones I have from my tent. May be able to source some replacements through another company if they are the same size and cheaper. Mine on my smittybilt havent had issues slipping like that.

You are probably over tightening them... cvt says snug.. if you over tighten they will groove like that and when removing it slips back making you believe it's when re.oving the bolt when in reality it's caused from over tightening.. ( ask me how I know).. I keep 10 extra on hand just in case I take my tent off every season and since I haven't over tightened I haven't had this issue.. snug is all you need.. 4 feet aren't going to allow it to move

They look just like the ones I had for my TuffStuff tent as well, I think they're pretty popular/universal. Only had that issue once when I started tightening it down when it wasn't slotted in correctly. ended up needing to take a rubber hammer to it to pop it out so that I could properly slot it in the channel.

Seems like the consensus is to get replacement ones and maybe go softer on the ugga duggas…
    Thanks all!
