Did the spacer, issue still persists. Seems like a transmission issue :(

damn dimead0zen, what you said sound like something I just started experiencing. Not sure about RPM's (I can check tomorrow), but doing 20mph in traffic and slowly accelerating because I'm in traffic, I started getting a crazy shimmy until 30mph. If I accelerate quick, I get nothing. It's slow accel, starting at 20mph and going to 25mph. At first I thought it was the road itself, until it happened several times, then I figured damn, it's not the road. I was leaning towards a slipped trans, but after reading thread, sounds like it can be a whole host of problems. Either way, just hoping it's not too costly. Thanks.

I have the same vibrations but at higher speed, 40-45 mph. Not 100% consistent but a slow acceleration through that speed window will trigger it. I have a helper spring in the back with 5100s in all four corners. Front clips are at the second setting so an extremely moderate lift. Before getting my front rotors resurfaced gentle braking around the same speed also resulted in strong vibrations. Only other thing I can think of is that I had to patch a tire after pulling out a nail. Not sure if the plug would throw off balance enough to cause the wobble. I recently rotated my tires front to back and the problem is still there.

YO! I got this figured out. I took it to the dealer and explained in good detail what was going on. They seemed to know right away what I was talking about, and they said they'll flush the transmission fluid 3-5 times and it'll resolve the issue. They did it, and since then (over 5k miles) I have had zero issues. Good as new. I recommend going in there and explaining the issue and that the blogs say a tranny flush will fix it, and see what they say. That's what I did, they agreed, they flushed, and it's fixed.

Seems similar to my issue. I think it needs the transmission fluid flushed. The dealer flushed mine 3 times and it worked like a charm.

Worth a shot, hopefully I or the tech can replicate the issue so I get it fixed. Was the flush covered under warranty?

I can't remember, but I think I paid for it. My truck is also pretty heavily modified so I don't really expect them to comp it when I've changed driveline angles and increased tire size etc.

This sounds like torque converter shudder. Most TC’s are either locked or unlocked. Toyota is smarter than everyone else and came up with ‘slip-lock’ in between unlocked and locked. o_O:bananadead:
This happens at low rpm in too high of a gear with a load. Instead of rolling on the throttle, jab it quickly and it will unlock or downshift. Or better yet, slide it over to S mode to force 4th gear and then put it back in drive.
Best solution is to tune it. Night and day difference. The tranny logic on these trucks falls well short of even ‘decent’, striving for the almighty mpg while neutering the truck. This engine makes power but not at low rpm.

Maybe, but I had mine tuned pre-shudder. OVTune is an absolute must just to daily drive the truck without feeling like you're in a Prius. The shudder came on within a week, and was very bad about a month into it. That being said, the dealer was like "yeah this is pretty common, tranny flush clears it up". He said it as if it's a daily thing for that dude at that dealer lol.

I don't know if you got this figured out or not, but I also have a 2016 OR and was having a pretty similar vibration on acceleration, usually somewhere between 10-30mph. I greased the U-joints and it totally went away. Something cheap to try before giving a bunch of money to the dealer to try stuff.

My 2021 has the newer sealed u joints so unfortunately not an option for me. I wish it was! It was also present before and after getting the trucked tuned.

Ah yeah, my bad, I was seeing @dimead0zen having the issue there and didn't realize they had it resolved already. Even for you though, my first guess would be a bad U-joint. Would be strange on a truck as new as yours, but you never know!

Mine just started this at just under 200k miles. Put some injector cleaner in and seems better but maybe a trans flush might be the ticket. Just started at the same time as a rear wheel bearing went bad so I was really frustrated.

The fix you all have been waiting for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am new to this site. And I had in the past the same issues as many of you have posted. My 2008 Tacoma would violently shake when accelerating around the 20-30 mpg speed. The Toyota dealership wanted to change the transmission. But a senior tech stepped in and said it was a short in one of the wires in the transmission. Once he changed the wire the truck was fixed and no issue. Super inexpensive tooo. Hope this helps
