They like to issue these Special Weather Statements to kinda butter us up. The “B” word is rarely used before Christmas so that’s how they colour in up. System’s already in Rapid City SD & on the way.

 

My buddy who let me take the kids to his stand Saturday of thanksgiving week shot a coyote out of it yesterday at 220 yards with his .270 short mag.



Then sent me this and told me to take Cole Friday and Saturday afternoon and let him shoot whatever.

Do you not have ag gas? Most stations in Canada (even on Vancouver Island where agriculture is pretty much limited to window boxes) sell ag/marine gas. It's ethanol-free mid-grade fuel which is usually about 5 cents/litre/20 cents a gallon cheaper than regular. Anyone can buy up to five gallons, to buy more you need to either have a farm plate on your vehicle, or be putting it directly into a boat or piece of equipment.

I use that in all my small engines, and always add a double shot of fuel stabilizer and a good gulp of carb cleaner to the tank.

 

Here in N.C. we don't have ag gas, we have ethanol free like they been talking about but it's expensive.

We do have off road diesel (non taxed) that is died, better not get caught running it on road or it's a hefty fine

 

Our 'farm gas' is dyed as well, it's normally referred to simply as 'purple gas'. Is the off-road diesel for heavy equipment and such?

 

Yes, anything off road can run it

Off road cost was .62¢ cheaper than on road yesterday.

 

Off Road diesel can vary between Suppliers .

It can be dyed Low Sulphur Diesel . or dyed #2 fuel oil to show it is untaxed fuel. Here the Tax is like $0.56 per gallon.

The DOT in Pa likes to do random fuel checks at livestock sales or Grain Mills at Harvest times.

The fines can get quite expensive per gallon.

 

I know a couple people who have been caught, one was over $10k fine in his dump truck

I can't say it's anything I've ever looked for. A quick search shows Petro Serve is "the largest supplier of home heating, commercial and agricultural fuel, and propane and lubricating oil, operating 22 convenience stores across Minnesota and North Dakota."

I get gas for the Tacoma at Costco and I usually end up filling up the Highlander at the gas station near me that I recently learned has an ethanol-free pump that I'll be using.

 

i knew a Mail Carrier with a fleet of 6 trucks .

The DOT set up a payment plan and allowed him to keep working to pay the fine.

The fine was $ 100,000.00 plus this was back in the nineties.

 

Cheapest gas around here at the moment is $2.88 a gallon

 

$3.77 a gallon last week.

 

Damn... theoretically there are fines for running ag gas in your vehicle here, but I've never heard of anyone getting nailed for it.
