You can throw a hand warmer in and they are super warm.

I lived in Florida for a few years which killed my cold tolerance. I am up in Northern VA now and will never live any farther north than this.

Not sure if this can help anyone but academy has this promotion going on right now. I might try to pick up another blind. Edit: so I didn’t read this clearly. Looks like you don’t actually save $20 or $10 but receive a e-gift card. My bad guys. But hopefully it helps someone.

I hope they are as good as you say:fingerscrossed: - ordered a pair earlier today off of eBay same price. Bought a pair of Minus 33 merino wool socks last week (higher % of merino wool than the darntough ones) will try both this weekend during Ohio's late deer gun days.

The Older I get, the Colder I get!!!! Got heated inserts for winter work boots (for Christmas a few years ago - rechargable)....used them one day during a muzzleloader sit last year and really helped. Definitely help when walking the woods marking timber in the winter!

Actually, I got them from Amazon not eBay - been doing so much Christmas shopping online I got confused (OLD FART issue!!!)

Im not sure about around the country but here the going rate is @ $140 to skin, quarter, and vacum seal steaks, roast, and grind the rest. This is his 1st year so we didnt know what to expect business wise. so i think he was @ $120. he built a walk in cooler, got his rooms up to code to get his liscense. the real cost comes when people want snack sticks or summer sausage(we call it deer bologna). then your bill can creep up to close to $200. we always do our own and he has been in my shop many a time working one up. he worked in a butcher shop when he was younger and has a skill.one thing he Did Not Do was offer jerky. too time consuming . all his bologna and snack sticks are cooked on smokers with mixed pork added and choice of seasoning. he ground a ton of boston butts before the season and froze in 1lb bags so its ready to use for an order(he is running 4 smokers) would like to know prices around the contry though. how much $ in your area?

I'll check with my buddies. I mostly just bird hunt, but older kiddo is ready to deer hunt.

Really want to get me one of these guys, after trying a buddies kill. Used to be when i was a kid, they were only on our nearby wildlife reservation (Wichita Mountains). But they have been steadily creeping out. I bout sh*t myself last year, driving down the highway 20 mins from my house and saw a herd of 30 or so in a guys pasture, off a creek.

Kid got this one last year with his bow, on his grandpas farm, about 30 mins from me.

That kid was a friend of a friend. Thats the issue i have and reason for being out for years. Tons of work, 20 acres w/animals to keep up with, and 3 kids w/some sport/activity constantly. But, hopefully will be able to use the oldest now as an excuse to get back out there. The two older ones are getting bows for christmas, as well. They both have one, but they were the kiddie bear beginner versions. I'll take whatever excuse i can get (to give the wife) for firearms/bows/ammo etc

$75-$85 up here to do a deer. Folks are crazy to pay that much for the amount of meat you get off a deer

Processor I use charges for the appropriate amount of work needed, to achieve what you want. Deer straight out of the woods (not gutted/skinned/quartered) start at about $65 plus $5 per cut. Gutting/cleaning fee is around $20-25. Deer quartered in a cooler starts around $50-55, $5 per additional cut. So you can spend roughly around $75 for a quartered deer, 3 cuts (ex: butterfly loins, cubed rear quarters, burger the rest), or you can spend about $100-110 for an uncleaned deer 3 or 4 ways. The money grab is all the specialty items like jerky, snack sticks, summer sausage, etc. You can spend as little or as much as you'd like in that stuff, and if you've got a big deer, it might be worth it; but I've seen tickets (that people never came and picked up their items) where people had $150 price tags for a very small amount of meat in specialty items on small 75 lb deer. Thats one reason I'm interested in getting most stuff ground and giving a go at some jerky/snack sticks on the smoker myself. It doesn't seem too hard, just gotta get the supplies.

I prefer to at least gut my own too, though just dropping one off along the way home has had its convenience pay for itself in a few cases.
