I'm done with MWND. 150 is way too much. This was much better. I still have Act 8 and Act 9.

A lil this a lil that.
Splurged on this with a buddy. It was really good but definitely not as good as EH BP. EH BP edged this one out. Bucket shot done.

It would be so nice to have a bar locally with access to rare whiskies at the BTAC level.

    Thanks for the report.

I was definitely upset with the price jump this year and agree that if I can find better juice for half the price high west has a problem

Ever since they moved to their own distillate from the sourced MGP they started with, reports have universally been of a drop in quality.

The best actually available stuff out there now is barrel proof/aged expressions from the majors. Bookers, JDSBBP, Rare Breed, Larceny BP/ECBP. Good and aged bourbon is no longer abundant since the boom hit. The big labels are keeping their best stuff for themselves and if you're a smaller operation like High West, you don't have Wild Turkey's 800,000+ barrel inventory to pick the best from.

Prices were high..but much better to experience this than paying for a bottle you don’t enjoy.

    Report from the lowlands:

-Dickel 17 for quite some coin.

    -Dickel BiB blue label

-Boss Hog came in locally yesterday, single bottle, sold within an hour. $600. Would’ve liked to have seen the bottle, I hear the toppers are pretty cool.

-Speaking of Whistlepig, seeing individual bottles of 18 yr here and there for $450.

-Talk about JD BiB. Some recent review that pegged it as the best whiskey on earth. Meanwhile it’s sitting next to JDSBBS.

-Two professions have the best stories: ER doctors and ABC clerks.

I am a huge fan of George Dickel (especially bottled in bond) for the price. Otherwise Buffalo Trace and/or Eagle Rare (same company i know) are great for me!

Exactly what I said to the clerk, “what’d they pay for the article?”

I’m predisposed to dislike Dickel, because years ago I randomly picked up something low shelf and it just wasn’t very good. Maybe I should try the BiB. Since I don’t usually eyeball Dickel (insert joke here) I’ve never noticed if it’s commonly available or not. I’ve seen 15 year from time to time, same thing.

Pretty easily findable. Enough out there for every swinging dickel to have one.

Anyone know how this compares to the regular sour mash? I have an open bottle of that and I thought it was so-so. This is the same proof, wondering how different it is. Would hate to open it and be disappointed, but when the drop happens I gotta take what I can get haha.

Doesn't taste like the regular. It's a little better than the regular. The best way I can explain is that it heighten your senses. It's a unique experience I've never had before. Doesn't taste like their other toasted offerings. I would buy a bottle at msrp because I'm a michter's fan but it's not worth it imo.

Thanks, I might try and track down a sample before I decide on opening it. Hard to sell or trade an open bottle haha.
