Fitting 35’s with minimal trimming NOW ADDING LONG TRAVEL AND 934 CV’s

It was around the time you posted that that I noticed it. Of course getting into weather now so quickly getting harder to work on things. After the trip last weekend it is on a high priority to figure out before KOH. Hopping a rear rear down finds nothing and front tear down has heims and this steering issue to find.

 

It’s probably the factory rack. Mine is the same way. I have a solid inch of play at the wheel. Going reman this time considering the OE racks are now like 800$. Either way, I’m not breaking them anymore. Just wearing them out. I’ll take it as a win.

 

This is my third rack. It’s a reman from the rack doctor. Swapped this one in when I did the slide rack. It’s just weird that it seems to be only when the wheel is centered. Need to look into it some more obviously

 

I've heard nothing but bad things about rack doctor. Maybe they've gotten better or are just better at doing 2nd gen rack remans?

 

Last one held up fine for the abuse I put it through. Was starting to weep after about 3 years. Replaced it because I was doing the slide rack and wanted everything fresh.

Would going up in tube thickness help?

What wheels are those?

 

The factory rack bushings are hollow on either side so the rack can slide back and forth. Add in a 1500psi TC pump and it only makes the problem way worse

Yeah that’s pretty bad. So about those nylon bushings? When can we get a set sent out lol

 

@81Trekker when you caged the silver truck, did you move to solid bushings on the cab mount? Is there any movement? I was looking at @WormSquirts pictures and thinking about the stresses on the sheet metal around the passthroughs since the cage is attached to the frame and the cab is on mounts.
Actually now that I think about it more the cab is welded to the frame with gussets isn't it? Carry on.

@snowsk8air2 Are Milestars good on road too? I hear they are definitely a loud road tire. I guess you might be biased though

As for road noise, they are a mud terrain. I feel they aren’t much louder than my duratracs were. And everything else about the truck is loud inside the cab so I don’t notice it lol

I have them as well. They are just as quiet as my last pro comp all terrains were unless you get next to a concrete freeway barrier and they have a little mud terrain howl.

They get around the mud terrain noise levels by designing the tire with a crown. Other than the noise this made a huge difference for me. On road the truck drives way better and steers better. Weirdly enough you are supposed to run them at the factory recommended psi so I run mine at 30 psi.

Now once that crown wears off they might get a little noisy. I’ll have to wait and see for that though.
