Custom made Thorndike Special. Don’t have anymore pictures of this setup either. Movie cars with different movie clips and memorabilia around them.

If you’re just looking to display the cars. You could just tack them on the wall. I rather do the strips for a cleaner look.

Display cases are nice because they keep the dust off.

If I had the larger scale cars I would do something like this! This guy has an amazing collection. Can’t remember his name.

I would love to do a big display only because I have my grandfather’s trains. It’s an old set but pretty cool. I just don’t have the room for anything like that.

Must be from Ohio. The picture in the top left corner is of the 55 Chevy altered wheelbase car "Godzilla". I built a 1:24 scale of it for a friend of mine.

Hey its me from Ohio. Thanks for all the nice comments. Godzilla is a local legend driven by Nick Iarussi. Nick is really getting up there in years and I havent seen Godzilla on the track the last couple years. He lives in Cleveland. I won that photo at Thompson Raceway Park during the Rainbow Babies auction they have there every year. It was taken in 1980 and donated to the auction to raise money for the children's hospital here. I know Godzilla has been doing wheel stands since the late 1960s.
I could be wrong as far as I know that model Suprafastcelica posted doesn't exist. I'm interested to know if it was a resin release or a custom build from a stock kit. Where did he find those decals? It is accurate.

I built it for a friend of mine. He has loved that car for over 50 years. The body is a resin mold that was made back in 1994. The chassis is from the AMT pro street Chevy II that cut and sectioned. The decals I got from a guy in KY. Unfortunately, he died earlier this year so I will not be able to get more.

Alright ladies and gents, this is going to be a little bit of a long post so sit back and enjoy.

I recently moved and realized how many hot wheels I had laying around, stuffed in boxes, or randomly displayed on shelves and thought to myself, “ya know you have been collecting these again lately after quite a long hiatus, you might want to consider displaying them somehow.”

After a little digging, I found this guy’s video on the old youtubes:

    https://youtu.be/oOjnOLD-cpU

I decided that was the route I wanted to go. So I went to Lowes and Walmart in search of materials. The plastic pieces I got from Lowes at about $3-4 a piece. They’re for holding textured waterproof fiberglass board on walls in commercial kitchens or workspaces. Cheap and effective. The double sided tape I went to walmart for and got two of the 40” rolls for $4 a piece (I wanted the no damage kind so I can modify the setup in the future.

    Total cost $36

So I laid out and organized all the cars and figured out where I wanted them to be displayed. Did a bunch of measuring and cutting, a little bit of level work, and maybe some cussing….all to build this:

    570FA802-54C2-4F2C-BE7C-9CB78D42D2FF.jpg

Picked some random cars to approximate the width so that I knew how long to cut my bottom piece in order to start, then once I had the bottom set, I could center it in the wall and add one of the sides to start placing my rows.

    A44C7FCB-3898-4D70-A434-3D9CE2A6B7EE.jpg

Sliding a car up and down each divider as you place it, reallllllly helped. Screw trying to make them perfectly level, FAHGETABOUTIT! Just slide the car up and down as you stick them to the wall and you’re golden, way faster and less frustrating.

    80CA3180-6C06-47CD-998F-4C929BEAC7E0.jpg

Aaaaaaannnnnd BOOM, final product. I’m extremely pleased with it and it only took a few hours while watching some shows and doing some things around the house. Should hold anywhere from 270-300 cars approximately and is INFINITELY, future, scalable. Which is exactly what I wanted. Hope this helps somebody! Thanks for reading!

    6CDA7E50-996D-42E9-9FC1-8D528562A575.jpg

I can also take measurements and provide more information on materials if someone needs help in the future. Its 9 rows wide, 48” tall, about 38” wide
