    Yesssss, finally!

Welcome to the family, stoked for you buddy!

Mine lives on the bike stand right now. Got a few things dialed in yesterday; Oneup bash, Oneup 180 post, and finally got the 203 rear rotor dialed. Don’t like how many spacers I needed, but it’ll do until they release their own.

    So sick man!
Is it designed around a 160mm rotor? Seems odd for a big bike

I'm still a long ways out, like a year, but am starting to plan an Oregon/PNW road trip for late next summer. Hoping to ride at least 2 days a week, and hopefully be out for 2 weeks. The initial idea is to drive the coast north to south and get to the red woods. This will probably take like 5 days and I'd like to explore the middle of Oregon also.

Anyone got any riding recommendations? New trails will hopefully pop up by then, but wanted to try and push towards going to a certain area early rather than a week or two before the trip and have to change all plans.

I know Bend is supposed to have great riding. That's all I really know about Oregon though, no specific trails. I'm more familiar with Washington stuff and have not ridden Oregon yet.

So anyone got any must rides for Oregon? Or any sweet jump trails around? Doesn't look like there is much east of Bend.

We're taking our dog too but my gf will most likely go on a hike with him while I ride.

Again, I know its way early, but I get excited about this stuff and like planning and looking at all this stuff in my down time.

Also, if there are any other recommendations for anything Oregon/immediate surrounding areas or the drive from Colorado there, I'd like to hear that as well.

I will be reading through these three links from pinkbike too

The good riding is mostly around the I-5 corridor and east towards the cascades, so it'd be a lot of driving out of your way if you wanna go down the coast. For example, Bend is probably a 5-6 hour drive from the coast. In my opinion all of these areas are good for a day (maaaaaybe two) of riding. If you wanna emphasize riding, then I'd recommend working your way down I-5 and I could recommend some other good stuff to do like breweries, wineries, etc.

Bend is good, really easy camping around the Phil's area but I find that most of those trails are more XC oriented without a lot of big/steep descents.

Black Rock is super fun and has some good jump lines and probably the closest thing to the coast that I know of.

Oakridge is the some of the best steep and technical riding in the area. Also, Mckenzie river trail is in this area if you want more of an adventure ride.

Hood River (Post canyon) is good and has a handful of good options

Sandy Ridge (Mt Hood) is fun and has a couple really good trails but there's only a few option

My parents live in Bend and I'm up there a number of times a year to ride and see them. Phil's is a large network but is relatively flat and XC oriented. The Lair (at the base of Phil's) has jumps ranging from strider tabletops to massive blind senders. From what I've heard from other friends who live in the area, the below info is definitely good for other Oregon systems. I also get how much fun it is to plan a trip - I'm crazy about that stuff too. When I picked up my GFC this year, I crammed Kelowna, Kamloops, Pemberton, Whistler, Squamish, and Vancouver into a 9 day trip and loved the planning aspect.

On another note, if you're looking for a great place to spend time in between all of the driving and traveling - Bend is the spot. Downtown is awesome, the river is a great place to kayak or float, and there is no lack of great food and countless breweries to spend time at - DM me if you want any recommendations.

I can give some good suggestions, but more info on what you're planning would be helpful. First how many days do you think you'll actually ride? Riding 2+ days per week, out for 2 weeks is only 4 rides, maybe a couple more? Second, what type of riding do you prefer? You mention jump trails. Are you also interested in more standard xc rides, backcountry rides, short rides, long rides, scenery, shuttles, climbing, bucket list rides, etc. Third, assuming you're in Denver, maps show ~20hrs to Portland and about the same back from CA. How many driving days would you plan on each way? With 5 days down the coast, and say 3 days driving each way, that only leaves a few open days. Fourth, what do you plan for accommodations?

Driving there and back: if you drive out on I-80 to 15/84, Park City and Boise would be possible stops not far off route with good riding options. For the drive home assuming you've made it down to Arcata CA you'll probably take smaller highways to Reno and then I-80. Graegle/Lakes Basin or Tahoe would make a good stop, then maybe SLC area again. Or take Hwy 50 and stop in Ely and Richfield.

Best way to check out middle of OR would be to cut over from Ontario OR toward Bend. Bend is pretty "meh" XC riding IMO but fine for a couple hours if you're there and it fits your schedule. Better riding is both north and south, nearby.

    * is for what I consider the best rides. YMMV

    South:
*North Umpqua Trail (NUT) - amazing river side riding with many waterfalls and streams. Much of it has burned but the best section called Dread & Terror was open and cleared of deadfall this summer. Check conditions, it can have a lot of trees down. XC riding with backcountry feel
Oakridge - awesome descents, you could spend many days there. Get shuttles in on some of Alpine, *ATCA, Lawler, Hardesty, etc.
Waldo lake area is nearby too and supposedly good, but at least part of it burned this year.

    Further south:
*Ashland OR - Timewarp and the old Super D course. 5k descent back to town on mostly buff singletrack. Ashland Mtn Adventures runs shuttles. Awesome riding, laps don't take very long.
Mountain of the Rogue trails - fun purpose built MTB trails. Good quick ride
Taylor Creek trails - have heard they're fun, haven't been there.

    North:
*Mackenzie River Trail. Last 10 miles gets a bit repetitive but upper 15 is awesome.
*Ollalie/Oleary/Castle loop. which is a big day with awesome backcountry singletrack. You can do a partial shuttle of it too. The full loop was one of my favorite rides this summer.
Cascade Crest is supposed to be awesome if you're into backcountry rides and don't mind some hike a bike. I haven't done that one yet.

    Further north:
Hood River - has some fun jump lines since you mentioned that. Good variety of trails.
Syncline (WA side) - fun and scenic singletrackm, some technical rock. Lots of poison oak
*Mt St Helens (also in WA) - Ape Canyon and Plains of Abraham. Amazing, unique ride climbing up to the side of the volcano. Must do if you haven't already, worth going a bit out of the way for.
Sandy Ridge - this was a one and done for me. There's better stuff out there unless you have a lot of time.
Black Rock. Cool system 10 yrs ago. I don't seem to hear much about it these days. Check on conditions. If you want jumps this is a good place for you. Some of them are very big.

OR coast - not a ton of good riding, but there are a few spots.
Klootchy Creek - small system, have heard its fun but haven't ridden it
Cape Mountain - supposedly these are equestrian trails. Seemed to be in decent shape when I rode last winter. Place was deserted. Probably wouldn't be in summer. There is a small campground there.
*Whiskey Run - very fun trail system with big variety including some jump lines. Worth a stop for sure.

    CA coast:
Coastal Trail - Last Chance section by Crescent City. Cool out and back ride through old growth forest. Part of it is old road. Unless construction is done you can only access from the north end. It's a pretty quick ride.
*Ossagon Loop - one of the few trails you can ride in a National Park. 20mi loop that drops down to the beach where there is a herd of elk. Ride along beach then loop back on Streelow Creek and the park road through the giant redwoods. Great way to see the park.
*Arcata Community Forest - fun trails through old growth forest. Some redwoods but no major groves
Look Prairie - Thornton loop in Humboldt Redwoods State Park. Fire road climb, primitive ridge top traverse, and fun singletrack descent. If you make it down to drive Avenue of the Giants, this loop is nearby. Impressive redwoods on the drive to the trailhead.
*Paradise Royale - very cool purpose built MTB loop by Shelter Cove. 12mi, 2200ft. Add Pacific Rim trail for more mileage, another one recently built but already has a backcountry feel. Shelter Cove nearby is a cool place to visit. Small campground right at PR trailhead. I'd go out of my way to ride this.

Biggest suggestion is to have lots of options and some alternate destinations picked out in case there are fires raging next summer.

Had the same happen with a Shimano XT so not unique to Magura if that helps provide some level of solace.
