Hasn’t seemed to make a difference either way to be honest. I might take the time over the next couple weeks to really compare. Maybe a week with gear guard active and a week with it off and note the battery when I park for the night and when I go to leave in the morning.

Wow! I would expect a lot more from a $90K truck. This is after just 2000 miles. What’s the truck going to be like after 80,000 miles? Will the doors literally fall off? I hate the excuse that it’s a new vehicle. These things have been tested for years. It’s shitty design and shittier manufacturing.

All minor inconveniences in my opinion, most rectifiable with software updates which Rivian seems to release every few weeks with fixes and new features. I can say from experience that the Rivian is easily twice the interior and exterior quality truck as my 3rd gen. Long term reliability is obviously a point of question given that there has been no long term customers yet.

How long do you plan on keeping yours? Are there any (unreleased) vehicles that you are looking at to eventually replace it with?

Body panels falling apart and strange vibrations are just an inconvenience on an almost new truck? I have a 160K on my truck and don’t have those problems. The frame is disintegrating but the body is still perfect.

I don’t know. It’s main limitation for me comes with towing range. I almost never tow further than 100 miles which is why I gave in and didn’t wait for the max pack but not being able to easily might show up as a problem eventually.

If I replace it I would get another truck of some variety. Unfortunately all the midsize trucks are boring and slow. The full size trucks are all larger than I like for a daily driver. The R1T fits in a nice little niche of size and capability.

Fair enough, might’ve glossed over those a bit too much. I’d have to look on my truck but the hood panel part shown in the video is just a rubber seal piece I’m pretty sure. Not ideal but not the end of the world as far as a repair goes. Rattles are also fixable, usually without too much work. Again, no ideal but not a deal breaker for me. I haven’t owned a truck yet that didn’t have rattles and noises at times.

    1. Misaligned tail lights, gaps are bigger right to left.
    2. Broken tonneau
    3. tail gate not aligned side to side
    4. Plastic rear quarter gaps to the body
    5. Front door gaps are uneven and taper off
    6. Dented A pillar covers
    7. Cracked Dash wood
    8. Plastic covers not clipped/holding in the cover over the headlights
    9. Fish eye in paint on front fender

For cliffs notes. Don't really care for a detailing guy talking bout paint haze etc... they'll polish turd. The above issues are fairly bad though.

I'm sure all that will be sorted when Amazon owns them outright.

    Which should be anytime now.

Sweet! So I’ll have my R1T 2 days after Amazon takes over?

Save the box so you can ship the truck back when it breaks.

You can probably just drop it at Whole Foods for returns.

No. Amazon will hand it off to their partner, USPS at the closest processing center to you. They will then ship it to a nearby state where it will sit for 2 days, then ship it back to the first place where tracking will cease to exist.

Hey, that’s better than my neighbor getting a bag of trash instead of his food from his Door Dash driver!

The panel gaps and broken pieces are pretty bad for an expensive vehicle. I could care less about the whining about wax and paint. It’s a truck. It should get dirty, scratched, bird shit, salt, etc. People treat these Rivians like precious gems.
