I would think the mileage could be written into a new cluster with Techstream but I don't know maybe @Bishop84 knows?

2nd gens are odd and barely retain any data, but I believe you can swap in lower odometers without issue.

You cannot order a new one without registering the current mileage though.

Only the VIN is registered to the ECU, but beyond that there's not much imprinting. (off the top of my head)

So in other words you have to order one pre programmed with the mileage then?
That's how the older GM trucks were too.

I worked for a shady shop that would swap out gm clusters all the time.

Carfax saved a lot of people from being scammed.

My boss taught me to look carefully at seats and steering wheels for evidence of roll backs. (then proceeded to scam away)

Yea I'd imagine that happened with alot of older vehicles that had the mileage stored only in the cluster, most everything now has it stored across multiple modules so it's alot harder to fake.

Plus carfax and registries are making it harder to scam people.

I just sold a GMC Terrain and every prospective buyer performed some sort of check. Which is good. 40$ goes a long way with fighting scammers. Potentially liked this TRD "PRO"

Yea it's definitely a good tool but it isn't foolproof either, quite a few flood vehicles get sold with a clean carfax to unsuspecting buyers at least where I'm at. We get them in the shop from time to time and we've had several people say they bought it with a clean carfax.

Carfax actually lists some non Pro’s as a “TRD-Pro,” per the VIN.

Been a few years since I saw it, but I’ve seen Sports and OR’s that are listed as Pro on Carfax.

No example to show, been a while.

I viewed “TRD Pro” as a generic identifier per Carfax at the time. Might have been updated by now.

It definitely is a sport, despite carfax listing it as a TRD Pro. I was told by the dealer the odometer on the truck says 43k, but don’t have pictures of that. The listing on their Facebook and website list it as 43k as well. Seems like a rollback to me if the ODO actually says 43k. Plus a new title # is sketchy to me as well. Someone “lost” the title between the time it had 210k miles and the time it had 43k. Lol

I don’t have pictures, but I was told by the dealer that the dash says 43k. I’d like to know what the title says but I lost interest before he ever got back to me on that.

Yea I think I'd stay away from that one unless you can get it really cheap, too many fishy things going on with that.

Bought a 2015 TRD a couple years ago from a dealer. Advertised as a PRO, but didn't have the right seat covers. They dropped their price accordingly and I bought it. Less than 20k and it had everything else the pro has. Has a built in LED light bar on front and back with regular switch. At night there are no lights visible when parked and running. Maybe a Southern California Border Patrol model.
