Adjusting shift points for cruise control use?

Hi, my 2004 Tacoma 3.4L automatic works perfectly but has always had an early downshift when using cruise control. In other words, if I drive with my foot on the pedal I can go 70mpg and never hit a downshift. But when I set the cruise at 70 the truck downshifts very frequently, it gives up to easy and goes for the high revs.

Does anyone know of a program update to reduce the number of shifts when cruise is on?

 

Don’t think there’s anything you can do for it….everybody complains about it

 

Yeah, I know this well. The cruise control doesn't react quickly enough. It loses momentum and falls behind. Then has no choice but to downshift to catch back up.

I have found the solution though. I regeared to 4.88s, then added a supercharger managed by a haltech computer. Now using the cruise control is great. No more downshifting at the slightest hill.
