It’s good that your finding these water infiltrations but you said your carpet is minimally damp.

is it heavily stained or mildewed?

you’re chasing a foul smell, yeah?

    Passenger side firewall.

Yours may have a small aluminum 90* elbow coming out of it.

You can pull that 90* tube out then clean it better.

I bet it’s your evap box. Stagnant water/mildew

After you drain it well you can clean the box with evap box cleaner to get the smell out.

This reminds of the time in the summer of 2012 that my 2010 RC had a foul odor from somewhere in the cabin that would come and go. I would routinely do the grocery shopping for my parents back then, and occasionally, a well-packaged item would end up under the passenger seat and lay there forgotten for days. More often than not, it was my string cheese. Nothing ever came out of its package and thus never stained the upholstery or stunk up the truck; I searched my truck top to bottom looking for a possible source of this unpleasant smell and found an empty McDonald's wrapper, but found no actual food, or anything that could be causing such a horrible smell. This bad smell came and went probably three times more before I realized that it was only present when my one friend was riding in the truck. This was a friend who, like me, has Aspergers Syndrome. Like 50% of young adults on the autism spectrum, this guy did not have a driver's license. He is going to be 36 in February 2023 and still doesn't have one, which is the least of his problems at this point, but that's a story for another day...

Anyway, so I realized my friend's feet were the source of the bad smell; I called him out and gave him an ultimatum...

"Either be more hygenic or find someone else to drive you!"

He turned the tables and tried to make me feel like the asshole, as if he had this non-negotiable right to have stinky feet. He lost his Tacoma privileges, and ended up getting "voted off the island" (disowned from my group of friends) for an unrelated incident a couple of months later.
