Word on the hood struts. Nothing like getting violently rocked by a hatchback trunk to the back of the head because they went out.

I said nearly the same every time i see one. They look like nissan took portions of various manufactures trucks, and called it their new frontier.

you are correct is some stuff. the thing is toyota has not updated this truck and they are not gonna spend money on tooling to add modern stuff to the old dog.
if you saw the 2021 Nissan frontier with all the belts and whistles is just the same as the 3rd gen. and old dog with bolted upgrades to make it compliant with the modern day. now that it got redesigned. they can all the BS they put on the passenger vehicle.

now you have to keep in mind the KISS( keep it simple stupid) as the simpler they can make the truck the less will break and the more it would be bought for fleet.

Nissan owner most of my life. I actually preferred the look and the way the new Pro4X drove however was unable to buy due to dealership shadiness. Personal preference, I think my 23 has no power response compared to the 4.0 in the older models, the 6spd doesnt shift as smooth as my 5spd Xterra with 160k and also the steering wheel speed and response lacks luster. Also to mention, the Pro4x is a new model albeit, the frame, trans, and motor already have been in production for a few years but the Tacoma has barely changed over the last 15. It is unfortunate that Nissan QC has not been the best in recent years though.

I will also state I would not go back on my decision on buying the Taco if presented with an option to swap with a Pro4x.

Correct, but it uses port injection as well to clean the jets. Some patented Toyota tech I can't remember the name of right now. D4S or something.

cmon bro they make disposable cars. their CVT only last 60k miles at most. the interior is worse than the Koreans. the paint is thin and scratch prone. the truck based vehicle get a pass since they use a normal transmission. and for some reason the old Frontier was a tank like the tacoma.!

Nope, it was my Celica. I was a little surprised, none of my parents' Toyotas or my first Celica did that.

What I really don't understand is the "forever broomstick" mod. Replacing them was easy, cheap, and happened right away so it wouldn't smack me again.

Port injection naturally cleans the valves, not the “jets”. The direct injectors have a slit, and got a self cleaning cycle at hot idle.

I mean we all know Lexus/Toyota is on top regarding reliability and resale value. LED lights, disc brakes and hood struts are the last thing on my mind.:)

Don’t tons of people add redline hood struts to Tacomas? Isn’t it kinda cheap to do?

I liked the old spring and cantilevered Mercedes hood lifts mechs? I assume they don’t do that anymore.

I'd honestly buy another Xterra/Frontier ten times over before I bought another Jeep or Ford SUV.

Worst pieces of shit I've ever owned were an Explorer and a Commander. Constant headaches.
