Ive got a few scam callers

 

I told @shakerhood this story right when it happened in either May or June of 2022; I got a message from random guy, and I somehow knew that he was a scammer or fake account. I got a message from him saying "Hi"...

I did not discover the message until days later, and I asked him rather innocuously why he had had messaged me. He responded by literally telling me to "Fuck off". I asked him what his problem was and said that I only wanted to know why he messaged me when he didn't know me and we didn't have any mutual friends...

He told me that he was gay, and that I had appeared in his "People you may know" feed. His logic was that because I appeared in this feed, maybe I was gay too, and I guess he thought I was cute so he decided to message me even though he didn't know me and this was not a dating/hookup app...

Ever heard of GRINDR?!?!

I have an aunt who is a lesbian, numerous friends who are gay, a friend who was born male and is a transgender female, and a coworker who was born female but identifies as nonbinary. I could care less what your sexual preferences are or how you identify. All I care about is that you're a good person.

I am very supportive of LGBT rights, but I'm straight; I am flattered that this guy found me attractive, but the bottom line is that I'm a man and I like women. I explained that to this guy and he apologized. I blocked him after we parted ways, just for good measure.

I don't know if he (A) had no luck with Tinder or GRINDR, (B) had no idea that "People you may know" has nothing to do with one's sexual orientation, or (C) so desperate for a hookup during the pandemic that he was willing to try anything.

Since 2020, the ongoing pandemic and the lockdowns that resulted, have turned a lot of people into socially inept morons who are doing things they never would have done prior to the pandemic.

I'm not going to lie; I got into bed with a bipolar woman I wasn't physically attracted to a little over a year ago, and I probably wouldn't have done what I did prior to 2020!

 

I am on so many Facebook groups that I've lost count. Most of them are automotive in nature. Sometime during the summer of 2020, I got a message from an attractive woman who for some reason I thought was a fellow group member. She turned out to have a husband, but whatever. What got me was that she lived in NYC; I don't know why I thought she was a member of any group I was in, but I did.

We started out making small talk, and then out of the blue, she starts talking about cryptocurrency, and aggressively trying to get me to invest two grand; I didn't block her, but rather stopped responding. A couple of months later, I deleting old messages from my inbox when I came across our conversation. It is easy to tell the difference between someone blocking you and someone who has deactivated their account (or been deactivated/terminated). This was definitely the latter. I have no doubt that she pulled this cryptocurrency bullshit with multiple people, who complained and got her shut down; I have no doubt that she was a real woman from Manhattan, but she was definitely part of a scam.

 

I don’t know anything about Facebook or Cryptocurrency.
But I get scammed daily. I can’t seem to stop paying the absurd prices for Coca-cola.
How is a 20oz bottle of coke $2.29c.

This thread is partially about the discussion and awareness of Aspergers Syndrome and other Autism Spectrum Disorders, so I'm going to tell everybody about "stimming".

Stimming goes by many names, but this is the most common. Stimming is when somebody with an autism spectrum disorder repeats actions rocking back and forth and flailing their hands, among other things.

I did this in kindergarten, mostly in the form of drawing imaginary vehicles in the air with my finger; I can't remember if I grew out of it or was trained, but the behavior was nonexistent by the time I started first grade.

My friend Jeff, who has Aspergers as well and is a successful self-made multimillionaire, says that stimming can be stopped through training.

None of my friends with Aspergers do this. My friend Jules, who is not categorized as autistic but simply intellectually disabled, does engage in stimming frequently.

She frequently rocks back and forth while failing her hands around. Most of the time, it is easy to ignore. Jules has a full-time job and successful parents who are there for her every step of the way, but at 22 she still doesn't have a driver's license; I was driving Jules and Anna to a pizza place where we were to have dinner with my other friends. We took my mom's Murano since the Tacoma does not have a backseat; Anna rode in the backseat, and Jules rode shotgun.

Jules will never shotgun again in a vehicle that I am driving until she gets this under control, because it is very distracting to have a passenger in the front seat rocking back and forth when I am trying to drive!

 

They definitely could be a source of distraction if she was in the passenger seat.

 

My wife freaks out a little every time i tap the brakes acts like im skidding into a head on collision...Ive told her countless times to calm down and knock it off...I dont think she will ever quit. Thats distracting to me...I prob could get used to someone rock back and forth if I had to.

 

I didn’t know the name for it.
I know what it is, I have a half brother with autism.
It’s pretty severe, and he does this.

My father and his mother are no longer together.
I haven’t seen him in 10 years or longer.
Unfortunately, contact with him means I have to deal with his mother and her family.

Anna and another mutual friend decided to make an attempt at setting me up with Jules after realizing that she seemed very "at ease" around me the very first time she met me, compared to previous encounters with people she's just met. Jules is quite attractive, and if you looked at her without hearing her talk or seeing her mannerisms, you see a pretty 22-year old woman and nothing more; I would like to clarify that Jules is nothing like Rose, and definitely nothing like Anna's other college acquaintance who wanted to have sex in a mall bathroom after knowing me for a day and having never met me in person.

Jules has dated at least two different guys, both on the spectrum. One of them took acid and, for lack of a better term, melted his brain. He apparently got a bit physically aggressive with Jules after she allowed him to kiss her, and broke off the relationship. Jules has little grasp on what acid is and what it can do to the mind, and is very cautious when entering a romantic relationship with a guy. That's understandable, but Jules thinks that all guys are like the acidhead until proven otherwise and won't go on a one-on-one date until she's know them for a month or two...

 

Jules' parents are very protective of her, and she wasn't allowed to be a passenger in my vehicle until her parents met me. Her parents met me and now they love me, and they not only gave her the okay to ride with me, but gave their blessing on dating even though I am 11 years older than Jules.

Jules has this thing about not going traditional "dates" with guys she has recently met, so I invited her to go see the new Black Panther movie with me and my friends. She went behind my back and invited almost a half dozen of her friends that I'd never met.

The movie outing ended up not happening because Jules had a COVID scare (though she tested negative) and I decided to avoid movie theaters until after Thanksgiving, so I wouldn't get COVID and expose my family (including my 77-year old grandma and my pregnant cousin).

My longtime friends (I just met Jules in October) took my side with regards to Jules inviting her friends to my outing.

Jules has admitted having a serious crush on me and wanting to date once she gets to know me better, but she also admits she is still attracted to yet another guy she dated and want to date him.

I am not into open relationships, and I have lost patience with Jules because she keeps switching directions.

 

What are drugs?
Are only the ones deemed illegal “drugs”?

 

There are legal drugs of both the prescription and over-the-counter variety, and there are controlled substances; I smoked weed once almost eight years, but I've never done any hard drugs, and I will not be in the future because I'm afraid of fentanyl poisoning...

 

The only thing useful from Facebook are the reminders of birthdays I get every once in a while.

Run the experiment with some Coca Cola. See what happens.

 

Can relate, was in that situation with an old girlfriend long ago who couldn't make up her mind..though I suspect it was more. Just do your thing and don't wait

“Is it just the illegal drugs that do that to your brain?”
