Cross posting here as well. Looking for another solution now, thinking of another 160 T-stat.. but also might need to pick up a new adapter and or gasket/o-ring for my current URD adapter that was removed for this install. It was starting to leak at the URD seal. I still need to fully inspect the URD components to see what's what. Just trying to put together a mental list/options moving forward.

So, I'm not sure if any other S/C'd guys have installed this yet.. or tried to.. but the housing interferes with the S/C belt.

Just got home after picking up the truck from having some work done including having them throw in the new housing while they were in there. Apparently the shop didn't check it very well.. will deal with it/them tomorrow, but wanted to share asap before others ran into this issue.

Wow, bad form on their part.
My URD housing started leaking after a couple years. Replaced with new T-Stat. Fine ever since.

First boosted application. He's working on a revision.. I'll hopefully do another test fit and report back.

Did you go with another URD t stat/adapter?

Just replaced with another 170 Tstat, kept the adapter. Been a couple years, I think I assumed the rubber gasket dried out. Would think the coolant would prevent that?

Mines been in the truck for years.. so a new gasket wouldnt hurt. IF I end up going back to the URD adapter, then I'll just order another 160 from the URD to get the gasket and re-use the adapter, given there are no other issues with it.

On another note; I was backing out of my driveway the other week, and the shifter went whiskey limp. No connection to trans. Found the end ball of the factory shifter had broken off. Not the first time that a URD short Shifter kit has caused this; related to the increased leverage.
Replaced everything with the TRD Quick Shifter. Better unit all around. Shifts feel better. And the shifter is actually shorter, not extended like the URD kit. ~3X the price but worth it.

Hi everyone, been lurking around this thread a bit lately and then I finally went and did a thing…

    upload_2022-12-14_20-34-59.jpg

Found it listed on FB marketplace. Supposedly had 30k on it when removed from the truck, but have no way to verify that. Spins freely, so I don’t plan to send it for a rebuild. Supposed to have all the parts as well, but I have to go thru and inventory what’s there and see what, if anything, is missing.

It will be going on my 13 Baja which has 115 on it to this point. Going to spend a lot of time reading here, but my goal is to get a plan in place and accumulate parts this winter and do the install myself when the weather warms up in the spring. I’ll have to find someone to tune it, but that’s a down the road problem.

The objective is to create a reliable, but fun taco that is more of a sleeper than anything else. Not building a race truck haha.

Anyways, I’ve rambled enough for now. I look forward to learning from and interacting with y’all!

without documentation, I’d assume it needs to be rebuilt.

At minimum, if I were you I would change the oil in the nose. Page 1 of the thread has a ton of info.

Definitely a good point. Oil change is on the docket. Another 1400 plus shipping to send it in for a rebuild hurts a bit. I’ve read thru page one multiple times and come away with new info every time. So grateful that so much was consolidated there, rather than searching thru nearly 2300 pages of content!

I believe @Lucario Runner has gotten the billet thermo housing to fit on with the TRD blower without interference with the belt.

and also, regarding the URD thermo.... one of the reason i switched from that to a Motorad was because of all the potential leak(ing) points. I went with the 160deg Motorad (from page1) and my water temps reads in the low 170s and no more worrying.

    Maybe?

I was actually just curious if you all use a separate gauge for each bank. But, whatever, idc that much

I don’t have gauges yet, but I will likely only have one since I use an Ultragauge to watch the fuel trims. The benefit I can see to two AFRs on each bank is to watch out for a malfunction, which I can do with the ultra gauge.

A very select few of us do, but the majority of us do a combined bank single gauge setup. I do a single. I removed mine not too long ago but I can always reinstall it if I want.

No, the t stat I wanted didn't show up yet which worked as that would have been another complication we didn't need. It is disappointing but not surprised when you don't have the parts to mock up.
