Rear Brakes not bleeding

Been trying to bleed the rear brakes but no fluid comes out. Fluid comes out of the LSPV when cracked but won’t get to the bleeder. (Still trying to get familiar with working on this vehicle as it is my first ever truck)

Bleeders can get full of dirt and no longer work.

the LSPV can fail not allowing fluid to return to the wheel cylinders

I have changed many over the years something I keep with my brake parts.

One never knows what interesting work might have been done to the Truck before it came to live with you.

 

Disconnect the LSPV from the pumpkin housing. Let it hang. Then try & bleed the rear drums.

 

Lowering the actuator rod closes the BPV.
Raising the rod opens it.

 

Is the truck lifted without a extension added to the mount on the pumpkin.
Weight of truck must be on wheels to bleed rear brakes, lifted or not.

Is your truck lifted? If so, remove the rod from the axle (12mm bolt), put the rod on top of the exhaust pipe (in the up position). This should allow brake fluid to flow to the rear wheels.

if your truck is lifted, you need to add a bracket to where the lspv connects to the axle. I recently fabricated my own out of some sheet metal, but you can also buy a premade one (BAMF). I have a 1.5” lift in the rear so I just measured out 1.5” from where the old bolt holes were. It really makes a world of difference in braking.

 

Do you have any reference pictures for this rod? Just for some clarification

I know this is old but i have been fighting to get my rear brakes bled. this makes total sense, i'm going to try it today. also, what about the center bleeder screw next to the drivers side rear wheel? do i bleed that one first, then the the brakes themselves?
