They’ll look fine once you thrash it off-road. I barely notice the gap issues.

All the ones I’ve seen and driven have pristine paint; I can’t relate. But the same is true of expensive Jeeps and broncos and hummers.

    Use ‘em!

The detailer crying about the scratches in the tailgate cover is ridiculous. It’s a truck not a classic Ferrari. These people have no business owning a truck. It’s just the cool thing to have right now.

I can’t see if mine has scratches because there’s too much mud and winter road spray on it now. I took it through a touchless car wash once so far which was before I posted pictures on here. Got the car wash for free though because the guy working there came over and wanted to talk about the truck.

"...Rivian is barely in business...While it has 114,000 reservations for its R1 truck, all these are subject to cancellation..."

Despite the Rivian being full of ye olde whiz bang tech the lowly Tacoma is looking better by the day.

That article is pretty much pure junk copy and pasted off MSNs website. Rivian is losing money but that’s what happens when you’re building a huge business up from scratch. They have enough money to sustain those quarterly loses for two years straight without bringing in any additional revenue. It’s going to be a tough few years for them but it’s not an OMG these guys are out of business scare either.

But was anything in either article actually inaccurate?

Still betting they won't be "Rivian" this time next year.

Too much competition, priced too high, ineffectual leadership, recalls, massive losses, layoffs, deal after deal gone sour, etc...

There’s only one true competitor now (Ford Lightning), pricing is in line with the only other competitor in production and cheaper than the future planned production, their loses are comparable to the only other successful EV startup (Tesla), one recall, layoffs of non-production line employees while hiring another shift of production line workers, etc. The Mercedes deal being cancelled/postponed could be looked at as favorable, concentrating revenue and cash balances to be focused on current production.

Rivian isn't Tesla, not even close.

They can't absorb losses like them and stay in business as is, or at all.

Tesla absorbed losses for 17 years before making a full year profit.

    Ok.

    Rivian isn't Tesla.

And the point being missed is no one, not a single analyst, sees the Mercedes agreement failing as a positive.

    Not one.

The fact that it conserves revenue for actual production does not change. Tesla is the closest and really only company that can be compared to Rivian. There’s a reason people compare them.

Well played, hoping you’re wrong in the long run. It’s definitely possible that Rivian will fail but still unlikely in my opinion. In my experience so far it is a better built, higher quality and higher performing truck than any of my Tacomas so if Rivian can expand production enough to stop hemorrhaging money I don’t see them having a problem.

They can learn from Tesla though and announce a new vehicle and then bank a huge amount of money in customer preorders. Use that money to keep the business running and maybe years later actually build the vehicle.

I’ve been in two Rivians. They are bout the same quality as a well done up Tacoma, not quite as good as a Tesla. Higher performing truck? Lay down the crack pipe dude. No EV can stand up to an ICE for towing. Rivian is already dying as you stated though.
