I have a 2020 Tacoma SR 4x4 with stock wheels (245/75r/16) with stock suspension. I'm upgrading to the typical Bilstein/ARB 5100 2" Assembled Coilover Lift Kit, OME 2887 2" 590lb rate front coils, and 1" Block Kit rear in the next week or so, and trying to decide what tire size I should use.

I see a lot of people running 265/70r/17 and see no underlying issues.

Has anyone experienced any rubbing/scrubbing with 275/70r/17 with a wheel size of 17x8.5 and -6 offset? The offset is what I'm concerned about and I'm trying to avoid CMC or any trimming. I don't have any mud flaps so that wouldn't be an issue.

I would stick with 265's, You could also go with 255/75's if you want taller tire

8.5 makes more sense to have 275s

don’t be afraid of cmc, it’s not that invasive, just ask for max caster with your alignment and see if it rubs

Poor tire selection in 275, either go 265 and be done or step up to 285 and all that comes with it.

Stick with the 265. With that offset and no mudflaps you should be fine

    So you’re swapping out rims?
Are looking for the wider stance or just a taller tire?

I run 285s and for the past 3 years I was against 285s. I will say I'm happy to have some light in weight SL rated Toyos AT3s on my SEMA pro wheels with the factory mud guards, great alignment and no rubbing, barley any loss of mileage and I upgraded to the new KDMAX Pro 9 tune and I didn't notice any power loss. 265s do look small but your safe from rubbing.

I basically had same truck/wheel/tire. Today I swapped to bilstein 5100s all the way around. 16x8 moto and 265/75/16 tire. It looks pretty good and rides great. But could have easily went bigger.

I just put 275/70r17 on mine. It has the Trd factory lift. (2 inch in the front 1 in the back). The tires fit with no rub.

I got 8” wheels with +10 offset. I feel at -6 you could end up with some rubbing.

don’t go 285 unless you don’t care about fuel economy at all. Already a pretty noticeable difference in mine with just the 275. But they sure look sweet

Just got this one. The plus ten offset is perfect. Flush with the truck.

255/75’s for me and amazed at how well this has worked out.
I’ve been down the big/heavy tire rabbit hole before, not worth it. But it’s your money…

285s in SL are lighter than anything in 275s as I have yet to see a 275 in a SL rating. I run 285s in Toyo At3s and they are 46 pounds and put on Toyota SEMA 4 runner wheels which are a +4. Gas mileage is averaging 17.5 to 19 in the city and no loss of power. I did upgrade my tune to the kdmax pro 9 so I'm satisfied. Plus no rubbing and able to keep my mind guards. The heavy tires is what kills the mileage. I re-calibrated the speedometer as well. IMG_20221115_144132442.jpg

Look at my post history. I have the same offset and 2” lift. 275’s no problem.

Almost 3 inches in the front on Bilstein 5100s top setting, 1/4 shim for the lean and a 1 inch rear block, front diff spacer and a rear carrier bearing shim, ECGS Clamshell bushing, Sumo bump stops all the way around, the alignment is the key to no rubbing with the 285s on these wheels. Not one bit of trimming, I did slide the mud guards back by re-drilling a new hole on the bottom hole of the guard. Ride is awesome.

Thank you, I have done a lot of things that you just do see in the pic. I did the remote start, all LED interior lights, back up and reverse, new Led headlights, Rigid industries fog, Pro grill, exhaust, trd skid plate, tail gate lock, new speakers, sub and amp all hidden, front cam which work off the steering wheel controls, catch can TRD CAI, so yea I do a lot you can't see. If you need anything DM me.
