The max pods in the door? Or elsewhere? I have mine in my driver's door with a flush mount but I drive an access cab. So for me it actually shines light into the rear seat when both doors are open.

I did flush mount because it's a bracket holding it in place.

The rear mount is just tape, and looks like it sticks out a little more.

and it's just a hole. Use a step bit

OK, @kmorgan3 I seem to have an issue. As you know I purchased an illumination harness through guildoutfitters / shawn. I had a problem with one accessory where my new switch was bad. Question about pins 1 and 4 of the harness. If the stalk on the steering wheel is off, is the "illumination" wires supplying +12 and GND, or only when the stalk switch is in some position other than off? I looked at the harness, and I'm pretty sure it's wired correctly, but something isn't adding up, because no matter the position of the stalk switch, my new switch is illuminated. Please help.

FWIW - Red(2) and Black coming from the harness with a 2pin connector. All is good there. It seems I've fused the Red(1) wire of the switch, and am sending the Green to the accessory that I'm supplying switched power to. Not knowing exactly what is inside the switch, that may be my problem right?

Wrong thread/harness. Please send a PM. But yes the variable ground wire is brought to ground when the truck is off. If the harness is wired correctly then you may not be using it in the manner it was designed for or you mixed up the input and output wires (the two reds). Follow up with me.

Well good news. I was simply backfeeding the switch that installed to control a forward facing camera. When you use one of these four wire Toyota switches, one must pay close attention to the wire (incoming, typically green) they want you to connect the fused 12V to, and the one (outgoing, typically red) that goes to the new accessory.

@kmorgan3 your harness is awesome. So nice for the switch to be illuminated properly, and support the additional switches you might add. Thank you for your willingness to help me debug the situation.

FWIW, I'm also using the harness to pick off a negative going trigger (goes from 12V to ground) when the overhead cabin lights start to fade in.

Next project is some footwell lighting. :bananadance:

Are the Authorized Distributors/Retailers still the only ones from the first post of this thread?

Just want to make sure since so many companies are out there are listing them now with the same exact photos and all.

I’m sure there are several others at this point. But I don’t have a full list at the moment — I recommend using one of the vendors from the front page of the thread.

Just purchased aqua V2 through VLED. So glad I didn’t see the max pods until after I ordered because who knows how many more lights I would have felt I needed in my access cab! Although a set would be nice in the suicide doors pointing down. Or the front doors. Or just anywhere. It’s just that every time I feel like interior wiring is done, I add something else! It’s a real problem.

Man. I bought the kit when it was first released. Have not had a chance to install it. Was gonna do it over Christmas (yes, I am a procrastinator).
    Now there is V2.
I need the new harness. Dammit!

Can someone enlighten me on what the V2 harness is/does? I bought the aqua front/rear kits around last summer and want to know if I'm missing out something newer.

Edit: Is this for adding additional lights or just to re-route the harness above the overhead console?

It re-routes to the overhead console and makes the footwell lights enslaved to the overhead dome switch (ON/OFF/DOOR). So if you turn that switch to the OFF position your footwell lights won’t come on with the door. Likewise, turning the switch to ON will turn on your dome and footwell lights regardless of the door status. The previous version was only tied to the door open/close circuit.

I have the V2. I've been relatively happy with them minus the rear seat Velcro set up. After seeing a couple of other pics where they are mounted under the rear seats I think I'll go that route once the weather warms up a little bit and I feel like doing some re-routing.
