Right? I’m thinking it should sell in the mid $20’s. That was the truck I wanted so bad I could taste it back in the day. The Toyota lot on Rt 37 on the way to Seaside NJ was full of them. Terri and I went there once when we were dating because I knew one of the salesmen and he owned one that I really admired. But I was between my junior and senior years of college, working a summer job, no money and no credit so of course that went nowhere. 40+ years later and I guess I never lost my affection for them because that one is really making me consider how bad could being killed and then divorced really be?

It would appear that "it's better to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission" wouldn't apply in this case .

Chance it and hide a nice piece of gift wrapped jewelry in the glove box for her.

I have to keep telling myself it’s a dumb idea. I can (I don’t but I could) take the Tacoma anywhere anytime but the ‘81 would sit in the garage and only come out in perfect weather only to get washed waxed and taken around the block to keep the tires from developing flat spots.

A little something every chance we get.
    Sorry, @Tacoma Mike

:annoyed:Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! House needs a reboot!!!! Stuff has no reason to be doing this. Yesterday, wife tells me the land line (on internet) phones all say "out of range or no power at base" - and don't work. Except the base is powered and she called Spectrum, and our phone connection is "fine". Unplug the base, haul it do the office for connection directly to modem. Nada. Bring it back. Nada. Unplug it for 10 minutes. Nada. Tell her to set time and date. "it's set". Put it down on the base, and it works.

So, I fixed my amp for the sunroom TV, right? I'm watching the local NBC for my weather and not a problem at all. Then on comes Lester Holt and the national news, and nothing but oddly phased music, and no voice! This happened yesterday too! Right at the switch. Switch to CBS, and it's fine. Turn on dining room to NBC, it's fine - so it's not a network issue.
During the news on CBS, a drug commercial comes on - I only get the music, NO voice. Next commercial fine. Progressive Book selling Dr. Rick - with no Dr. Rick, next commercial fine!
After the national news, switch back to NBC local, and it's fine. OK, I will reboot the cable and go eat. After dinner, fire up the Firestick connection for the game - and you guessed it - all bad sounding music - no voice. I tried fussing with settings on the TV, and what I could adjust, Googled every way to phrase the issue, and finally gave up and just watched the game with TV sound.

I use the optical output, and there is light, and there is no way a cord problem can be that selective.
This setup has been running this way for at least 3 years now.
No way the TV is smart enough to make "selective" audio output. On just one connection.
I realize the only real change was that I "reset" the Yamaha amp during the first attempts to get sound back. My ONLY reasonable guess is that somehow, the signals that screw up are somehow differently "encoded" audio type, that cause the Amp to not process it. I find references to "overrunning" and something similar - but of course not how to prevent it.
So, during the course of todays games, I have to go find a signal I can't process, and sit in front of the amp adjusting things until I can!

Ah, first world problems! I guess I will take this over shoveling heart attack snow, and cutting up felled trees. And, @Kevins60 , no way that little Toyota goes for mid-20's! I will be it pulls at least $40K!

We've been through a lot of loss too but not in such a short time span. You have our best thoughts going your way. Stay smart about that heavy snow too!

Lake effect snow...yes but I don't think we get much of a accumulation from it...we may get a few flurries or just a few inches.

@Oldie2007 I checked comps and I feel pretty confident in the mid-20’s. There could always be a couple of knuckleheads get into a bidding war and drive the price up. I keep telling myself that this is a dumb idea at any price, trying to talk myself out it.

When I spring this idea on my wife today I expect one of two possible answers; 1) That’s even a stupider idea than the truck you have. You’re out of your mind wanting to buy a 40 year old POS truck, or 2) it’s the truck you’ve coveted for 40 years so just do it.
Now to give an idea of the likelihood of either answer, I’ll say that option 1 is about as likely as the sun rising tomorrow vs option 2 which is about as likely as winning the lottery while being bitten by a shark that’s being struck by lightning.

Yep, I like the odds on this one.

Update: I can’t really say it was a discussion because after she saw the picture it was pretty one-sided option one and in no uncertain terms. I still have a few weeks to wear her down before the auction. Dare to dream.

Keep begging Kevin, she may have pity on you, or maybe not!

:woot: Just read where the old Pocono Drag Lodge was purchased, and it's 278 acres will become part of state game lands #91, sure glad to hear it won't be turning into another development.

Absolutely would not. When I showed her a picture of that truck I could actually hear her eyes roll. I kid around a lot but she has kept me from doing really stupid things for 40+ years and thank God, she’s not about to stop. Neither one of us has ever made a unilateral financial decision and I’m not about to jump first. Besides I would have to sell the Tacoma to make room in the garage and I am too attached to it. I could just picture the ‘81 next to my ‘04 in the garage and her Audi parked in the driveway and I know that would never fly.

    Good morning fellow Porchatonians!

I ended up plowing/shoveling 2 times yesterday - morning and afternoon. Both times were 3" of slush/wet snow - the snow that turns blue when you compress it because of the water in it. Heart Attack Snow at its best. Really couldn't use the snow blower so I took my time with the shovel in areas where I can't get the plow. Brutal.

Bathroom reno is going pretty well - exterior is all closed up and they will start dry-walling today. Electrician has everything wired in, plumber comes in today, too.

Be safe and enjoy this weekend thingy.
