    I ordered one for Black Friday too from Sparks Toyota, and I just put it on last night after work. They didn't say anything about a recall. Either they didn't know about it, or someone has some bad info.

    I too ordered one (oem) over thanksgiving. The dealer had an additional 15% off and free shipping.
    It arrived promptly, unlike the truck it's going on.
    My buddy also ordered one and his has been received and installed.

    The Amazon ones seem to be an exact copy. Judging from the pictures and parts.

    Thinking about it now, they probably didn't want to sell it at $167 delivered where everyone else was asking around $200... it's crazy how different the prices are from dealer to dealer on toyota's official parts website, parts.toyota.com

    I have the OEM step and while this one looks the same, the picture appears to show it open to the rear (under the tailgate if it were down). My OEM opens to the side. You can step up onto the open tailgate with your hands full.

    @92slammer I don't think you can. I called my local dealer to find the part and they barely found the step itself.

    Why you'd want a bed step... It's humbling to get old.

    I was putting a front bedrail on my truck, and when finished, hopped off the tailgate. My momentum carried me forward and luckily I did a roll. Scratched the leg up pretty bad. (I was wearing Columbia cargo pants which I find light, pack small, very warm in winter, can be converted to shorts, lots of pockets, and dry quick. However, super thin material.)

    Not smart of me (the stupidity of hopping out of the truck... the pants are a smart buy). A college friend recently stepped off a curb and broke her foot. And I've seen what happens when people roll their ankle out of joint. Ouch.

    Now I use a step. There is a 10% coupon on the item. I just toss it in the cabin or bed of the truck.
