Idk, why some keep claiming these trucks need a tune. They run perfectly fine without any. I guess their trying to make these trucks into something else they had expected them to be.

Datsun (now Nissan) made decent reliable vehicles many moons ago. They were a good choice for someone wanting an alternative to a TOYOTA. Sort of what GM and Ford were, GM being no.1 at the time.

But things have changed and now Nissan R&D works like GM works. That is, roll it out the assembly line and let the customers test it and use their checkbook to pay for fixing the issues that pop up lol!

What I’m amazed by is the Nissan fan boys that just won’t open their eyes and quit.
They try and drag our vehicle thru the mud by saying things like “we’re still using rear drum brakes” as if there’s something wrong with that.
Well, there isn’t, and I for one would be glad I have a cable I can pull to stop, in case a brake line ruptures and lose all braking ability.

Oh yeah, drum brakes are redundant, they work with hydraulic pressure and a manual cable. Disc brakes are not, they work only with hydraulic pressure, so there’s that.

They are sure getting their money's worth out of that platform as the Maverick is on it too.

I was burned too, on a bad transmission (really a pressure plate/clutch issue, causing syns to fail) on a 20 month old certified preowned, low mileage car,,, they wouldn't do shit, I even called in favors towards the end. Finally said F them, sold it and won't give em my money out of GP.

Keep in mind Toyota has dicked plenty of people on here with warranty stuff.

They won't even cover 3-year-old trucks that have the paint falling off.

In 19 there wasn't another midsized I considered. If I were buying today I'd be giving the Nissan and GMC some real thought. Not sure what's I'd end up with.

Our disintegrating frames aren’t too great either. They’ve known about it for 20 years and still can’t put better paint on the damn things.

GMC consistently ranks in the bottom of every reliability category. Never known anyone to own one that didn't have major and/or minor problems constantly. Not hyperbole, wouldn't keep one if it was given to me free.

This I'd drive the shit outta though...

I Think yota is still towards the top of the food chain when it comes to manufactures but they are slowly becoming like the rest.

This is quite appealing. Definitely a significant improvement over the 2005-2021 generation.

I’m way ahead of you partner, the last two Tundras I owned were sixes, 4.0l to be precise. And I never owned the V-8 because some knucklehead engineer(s) though it be FuN to put the starter motor inside the engine lol!

But the truck itself was/is solid & trouble free. But I’ve dealt with enough starter issues, so I avoided it.

As for the new Tundra, it’s a total FUBAR IMO. And If you purchase the half-hybrid model, (full hybrid is entirely different and not offered last time I checked) looks like repair nightmare waiting to happen.

Even with the TOYOTA solid reputation for standing behind its product, as I’m sure they will, I don’t need the headaches. They need to go back to basics before they reach the point of no return.

But that’s the difference between me and the Nissan fanboys, I call it as I see it.

That always bothered me about Tundra's starter too, that type of stupidity is usually saved for GM vehicles.

That’s what I had for a rental minus the lift. It was a great truck.

Way more F-150s on the road than Tacomas. I don't know what volume represents in the automotive market? Other than greater production numbers.

that’s a different class of vehicle.

To be extra picky, they don’t offer an MT so that’s a no from me.

On a side note, the TOYOTA Tacoma with the MT has become the best anti-theft device ever lol!
