Ford F-150 has a twenty year head start for years in production over the Tacoma. F-150 has probably out paced production numbers over Tacoma. Year over year Ford has probably produced more F-150s than Toyota has Tacomas. I'm just saying that volume of trucks produced doesn't mean that the more popular truck is better because there are more of them.

There’s lots of Canyons and Colorados on the road too. It doesn’t mean they are better.

I wasn’t saying more meant better… I was joking by saying we’re fools for buying Tacomas. :der:

IMO the Frontier offers better value in terms of drive feel, engine, trans, factory tuning, ergonomics and comfort. This doesn’t mean the Tacoma is bad. Overall it’s a bad ass mid size truck. However, it simply does not have the following, popularity and resale value of the Tacoma.

If I was sane, I wouldn’t have spent $12K in a 6 months period modding my Tacoma. I see it as a hobby so it’s not a bad thing lol

Don’t even bring GM into the convo, they are ugly squeaky and rattling trash on wheels. :puke:

I took it as a joke. The 2nd gen Tundra is probably the better 1/2 ton of the past decade including 2023 models. Despite it's lack of features compared to the domestic brands, and can't offroad as well as a Tacoma.

I still think the 3rd gen Tacoma looks better than the Frontier has a more appealing stance, and even has better factory accessories, and more after market accessories. I also like how the Ranger XL looks, even though I think it has the ugliest front end for a midsize out there. Those utiliquest Rangers look cool too me for some reason. Something about the 16" steel wheels and the stance of the Ranger really works.

My 2010 Pro-4x with the 4.0L and 6MT has never let me down. It's taken me into some very remote places with zero concern. As much as I'd like a '22+ I plan to keep my '10 around and buy a nice, newer fuel efficient commuter. I'll likely Titan swap the '10 and add an M205, TRE front locker, 35s, some armour and a winch.

Renault owns 43% of Nissan, and since their ‘alliance’ in 1999, Nissan QC has suffered. Mitsubishi joined the alliance in 2016. Haven't seen if that has hurt or helped any of the three.

I’ve never understood why people care about vehicle resale value. If it’s a good vehicle then don’t you want to keep it? Why worry about selling it before you even buy it?

I know that I’m not sane, because if I was, I’d do like most people and buy a vehicle based on the looks first and foremost.
The reliability and durability should be an afterthought because they have a warranty if anything goes wrong.

Case in point, I’ve had my eye on the good looks of the Ram 1500 for the last few years, and yet I don’t trust warranties, so I would much rather buy a Frontier all day long, solely based on a more solid reputation and all that have seen.

It makes a big difference if your vehicle was involved in an accident and totaled, your settlement check would be higher if it has better resale.

Would be a tough choice for me if I was in the market for an auto transmission vehicle. Manual transmission requirement would seal the PRO as my choice.

because I bought my 2017 for 35K and sold it in 1 day for 31K after driving it for almost 3 years and 30K miles.

I might do it again with my 22

We’re in a crazy post covid, low inventory, high inflation world. All used vehicles are selling for higher prices than they should be.

Idk, i've been in a buddies new frontier...hard to find any fault with it compared to anytime we took his taco on a fishing trip. So far he's been far happier with the nissan then all the bitching he did on that 2019 tacoma. The ride in the frontier i will say is smoother than my tacoma.

Blasphemy!! Expect a knock at your door soon; you’re going to be taken to the Toyota Tacoma re-education camp. It’s like the opposite of a cult intervention; instead of trying to get you out, you’re re-educated to get back into the cult mindset!

First new vehicle I bought was a Sentra that was the same year the world was supposed to end, I lived more recklessly given the circumstances. I think I kept that car for about 4years and 35k miles never had any problems with it. I thought it was typical Nissan build quality when I bought it, I didn't even cross shop Corolla or any like vehicles. The Corolla would have been a better vehicle, but I wouldn't have kept that either.

I don’t worry much about low probability “What If” situations.
A new Frontier Pro4X is $39K a Tacoma TRD Pro is $46K. That’s real cost savings.

I was assuming you sold it to buy the 2022 truck.

I mean they can say the same thing about Tacoma fanboys. This is my second Tacoma and 5th Toyota so I clearly prefer them but I see nothing wrong with the Frontier. If anything the advances the Frontier and GM twins make only “force” Toyota to make advancements and provide a better product. It’s a win-win in my eyes.
