    Oh hell yea.
My winch system on my tractor worked like mint…
With this gray snow I would have really bent the lift arm again.

Should have done it years ago.
Only two things things that need to pay attention to.
Can’t push the buttons on the remote with a glove on.
No limit switch on the winch so if I’m not careful I can bend the blower frame.
I used a aluminum pipe for the winch lift so I hope it will act as a sacrificial piece
    If I fuck up..
If it wasn’t raining I’d go out and try the headlights on the bitch… lol
    My shoulder it loving it…

@Tacoma Mike you seem to be quite the snow blower aficionado, and I'm an utter noob. Never had one, but I hate shoveling snow. I live out of town with no pavement and have a somewhat uneven driveway of dirt/gravel/rocks that is 100-120 feet long, a sloped bit down to a parking area that is dirt/grass/rock, and I live on a dirt county road that is only serviced by a road grader that leaves a berm/drift at the end of my driveway after every storm.

For a noob who has no garage/shop to store or work on one, what advice would you give? Should I bother, or am I better off sticking with a shovel?

I'd be inclined to say hire a plow guy... my driveway sounds very similar to yours, and I spend 2+ hours clearing the whole thing each storm with a snowblower. (@Tacoma Mike i can't wait to try them out when I get home from work today) The uneven gravel/rocks will fetch up the edge of the blower if they're prominent enough.

Yeah, I have just been rolling over it all for the last few years. The Tundra was unstoppable, and the Taco is proving equally eager, even on stock tires. When it was really bad a few years back I borrowed a plow truck from work, and even a backhoe once. Just no guarantee that I will have access on short notice to those.

    Well, lots of variables.
How big are the loose rocks?
    Like 1/2” max 3/4” ?
if you prep your driveway and have the skid plates 3/4 of a inch on the blower, it can be done. Run a grate with a catch trough on the end and run that bitch all summer. Pick up all the big rocks you can. Roll the drive to pack it. Unless you don’t want to do that then would suggest what
BananaBoobie suggested and just have it plowed. Anything bigger than 3/4” is going to beat the shit out of the blower and hurt it. Storage can be done with a cover but then you run the risk of mice.
That will ruin a blower in no time.

Ya big boob! Your contribution is working magnificently btw. Had to take the skids off because they wouldn't stop digging into the drive, I'll modify them at work on Monday and reinstall.

Bent the aluminum sacrificial crossbar. That’s how heavy this shit was.
    It worked so nice.
    No more sore shoulders.
