Yeah, chasing that stuff down is a full-time job. It's been enough of a problem that we've even put out videos on how to identify counterfeits. The exact fake products in the video could still be found on eBay years later... possibly on the secondary market by that point.

I was asked a while back if there's a way to prevent the counterfeit websites from popping up. Short of buying every sound-alike domain imaginable (which is obviously not feasible) I couldn't think of anything. Just monitor search results and try to get them shut down when they pop up.

@Wulf I once came close to buying knockoff Pit Vipers from AliExpress. I bet those aren't much different from the real thing.

The real ones are already questionable quality tbh. I'm sure the big question would be whether the lens blocks UV as well

Have you checked out heat waves? They're my go to for hiking/biking/garage/everything primarily because they're impact rated. I have a couple pairs that are several years old haha. The frame isn't adjustable like vipers so they're less cheesy feeling and lenses are replaceable

The knockoff ARB snorkel I got off eBay from Malaysia was a solid buy, a good $300 cheaper than the branded one.

I went a bit wild and got some fancy riding glasses earlier this year: https://na.pocsports.com/products/devour?variant=43412094288038

They can be found on sale for like $175 with two lenses (clear and tinted). Not for everyone, but I don't regret it. I call them my "POC Vipers". They're just for on the bike, though--they're too ridiculous to wear around town.

I should invest in some better impact-rated glasses. I don't enjoy the cheap hardware store safety specs I have.

Tangent: I work with a guy who drives a minty EG Civic hatch. I think he's the original owner and it has like 75k miles--just driving the few miles to work and back every day for 30 years. He's a mechanical engineer, so maintenance has probably been on point, too.

The last big rainstorm, I got a call from my friend who stores it for me.

“Tyler, you have the only boat I’ve ever seen sink on water and dry land. The tarp broke and the boat is full of water.”

I'm surprised you haven't converted it into a mobile hot tub. Imagine the possibility

Down to $2.75 around here, needs to go another .75 lower.
