Sorry Dave, happy the tree missed any buildings. I really like your walkway. Nice overall design and execution, the entire setup looks great. I agree with Mike, buy a lotto ticket.

Mike, sorry for your families' losses. The store poster is such a touching display, just proves that us Vietnam vets are the best.

Carl: We have a similar situation in my city. A decent size wooded land area is getting ready to go on the market. The land area connects another city wooded park and a county bike/hike trail. My city Council member knocked on my door a few weeks back, and it is not an election year, but he is running for an At-Large position next year, and we talked about the parcel. I told him I would be agreeable to a one time assessment to purchase the property. I know it will never happen because if a council member proposes any type of a tax increase it is their death wish. But if you do not tell them they have no way of knowing. Unfortunately, my city has no zoning authority, and the decision will be up to the county and our county is all about more high-income housing at the moment.

Good morning, going to be baking cookies and making Ziti today. Watching movies this afternoon and tonight.

:spending:Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Well, it had a good run, but why can't stuff like this die during Black Friday?

TV optical audio output (the only output they have anymore) is broken off inside.
Used the smaller dining room TV optical out to test the amp, and it can't process it.

So, off to Best Buy this morning to pick up what I ordered. At least, for the first time I can recall, I have electronic gizmos of the same (new models) vintage. And I bought their warranty, because they saved me before. And the old TV will stash in the old bedroom, and go to my sons new apartment in January. He doesn't care about the output; will probably just connect some Bluetooth computer speakers to the headphones. He's moving already because they don't have hot water - again. Been a constant problem for two months now.

Oh well, got some chili on for later, there's games to watch, and AV to install and play with.

I have access to all my circuits this way.

I run a meter to check how my wattage is being used.

    I did everything myself.
I just had a electrician come in and check and do the final hook to the service.

I replaced our original Onan (now Onan Cummins) with this one a few years ago. Nothing like the magic of auto transfer and computerized load monitoring for those of us who are not so mechanically inclined.

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/shovelers. Apparently I was supposed to shovel snow too -- driving around yesterday I saw all kinds of little piles of snow along edges of driveways -- but I didn't, and the rain just melted what little snow we had.

That's the way we did it too, before the whole house generator went in. That has automatic cutover via transfer switch. We've had it a little over a month and used it twice, plus it has been tripped on two more times but the street power came back before it took over. Life in the woods....

...we actually kept the old generator and connection setup in place. Heaven forbid the propane truck can't get through, plus my electrician is a belt-and-suspenders kind of person.

    Nice mark.

My base is just blocks tied together

    upload_2022-12-18_6-14-38.jpg

If I want to a few smashes and it all goes away.

    Everything is manual.
Recoil start. Manual cable hookup. Manual transfer. But, it works.
    I’m warm, I have lights.

Last ice storm we had in the 90’s we lost power for 3 days.
I had a different setup. I have a complete isolated circuit in the house for two plugs. Saved my ass..
We slept in our own bed. Families left for hotels.
    Foolish not to have something.
    We are lucky..

    And Smart. Lol

Good morning all! Going to be a busy morning with the last of the cleanup from Thursday’s storm. Lost 2 more fence posts but we got off easy. Trees, fences and pool enclosures took a beating in the neighborhood from what I suspect was a microburst. There’s been no mention of a tornado but I have never heard anything like the wind sounded for about 90 seconds on Thursday. I was at my desk in the den listening to the torrential rain outside and it sounded like it was letting up when the roar started. I peeked out the window and couldn’t see a thing through the water and leaves and junk getting blown against the side of the house. My wife and dog and I waited it out in the family room, the three of us looking at each other with eyes like saucers. And just like that it was over. I checked outside and there wasn’t any damage to my house just a ton of tree limbs to clear but my outdoor Christmas decorations had become projectiles and most were piled up against the neighbors’ houses. My Frosty the Snowman was decapitated, I found him next door and his stoved-in head was two doors down. He’s back at the corner of my garage now as Scarface the Snowman where I expect he will scare small children. I had an outdoor lounger cushion in front of my house that came from a neighbor 2 blocks away where they really got hammered. Huge live oaks and magnolias were down and today I saw the dreaded blue tarp on someone’s chimney. Anyway, that’s my day. Couple of new fence posts maybe a nap and if I can stomach it, watch the Bucs get slapped around by the Bengals.

Good morning. Helped bake cookies and made Ziti with a side of garlic bread. I make Pasta Zero for me so I can have a couple small pieces of garlic bread. Pasta zero is not too bad if you rinse it 4 times and heat it up with water from the cooked pasta. Wife remarked how much longer the cookies last now that I do not eat them.:thumbsup:

Today is lunch with the entire family, my brother and his family are in town. They came up from North Carolina to pick up my nephew from Dullas airport, he had been studying abroad since October. After lunch we are going to a toy train museum somewhere around Ellicott City. Going to be a busy day.

Good morning all. Other half spent most of yesterday baking cookies so I stayed out of the way. Got the bike out and put about 100 miles on it. Temp never got above 41 but heated gear makes that tolerable. Hope to get out again today.

The one I replaced was an Onan (Onan was bought out by Cummins). The new one is a Briggs and Stratton.
