Tacoma or Frontier the amount of raw materials these trucks are made from. They really should have a starting price in the very low 20s. Maybe the mid 20s post inflation.

The Tacoma being built in Guanajuato should be priced rather low. Given labor costs in Mexico, the amount of materials being used to build a Tacoma, and the truck is going on its eighth year of production. There's no reason the Pro should cost over 40k.

FWIW my 2010 was built in Mexico. Almost 130K now, though the frame did rot out at 11.5 years old

Spoke with a neighbor yesterday that bought a new frontier. He told me the price on it was too good to pass up from this large nissan dealer that recently move in the area. Said buying the tacoma of roughly equal value was over $6k more. I got a speel from him how tacoma's are way over priced.

Not sure what you mean. His truck works fine, probably better than some of these tacoma ones some are whining about.

It was my attempt at being funny; apparently an epic fail on my part. Given the Frontier is not available with a manual transmission and the Tacoma is, my math says, Tacoma > Frontier.

I got a Cali truck its been 100% minus my 2.7 head gasket dying at 208k. Needing 28hr in labor* to replace it. Aside from that its been tits now at 212k. * Yes i took it to 3 diffrent shops all used the same estimating program and all said 28-29hours. Literaly removed every dam thing above the head to access the gasket. In that moment I thanked God it was a straight 4cyl & not a V6 or 8.

Our company has global locations where we build the same complex products.
You are correct, every location has their own culture and challenges. However, what you didn't say above is, even though humans do most of the assembly of components, the process and procedures used by these humans are mostly the same no matter the location and written by the same group of people.

A "Cali truck"? You mean the ones built just south of the U.S. border in Tijuana?

Wages in Baja are probably higher than wages in Guanajuato. Baja plant has more experience building Tacomas.

I don't know if higher wages produce a better production, but I can't see lower wages creating a better product as a result. Most manufacturers in the US outside of the big three build their plants in the south, to offset labor costs and state taxes.

Lots of medium and heavy duty trucks are built in Mexico.

I think your neighbor lied or the Tacoma was marked up substantially along with the Nissan heavily discounted. If you compare equivalent models the Nissan has a higher MSRP. Both in DCSB AT 4x4 the Tacoma Off Road is $38,405 and the Pro 4X is $38,720.

I don't think this guy ever owned a vehicle with a manual. His last truck was a 5 year old ram.
As far as cost, my buddy bought his pro4x from the same name dealership that had another location in another city. Now their here locally. They may even have a 3rd location for all i know. I can tell you my buddy had said nearly the same when he traded his tacoma in to them, they offered him a great deal.

I didn't disagree at all. My only point is they all have the same processes and procedures to start. How they are interpreted and completed are different because of many different things.

I purchased my 2021 TRD Sport in Easton, MD on May 14, 2021. It was built in Apaseo El Grande, Guanajuato, Mexico.

    Very satisfied with my Sport!

    That's too funny!

I copied/pasted from a VIN identifier website. I was too lazy to correct the capital letters! lol

Plus, I'm an old guy (not really but there are people much older than me) so that cartoon gave me a good laugh at myself.

EDIT: Fixed with lower case letters! lol
