Cash for small purchases credit for large.
    Lowe's card at Lowe's - 5% off.
I have one card that gives 5% on fuel so that is all I use it for. That 5% adds up pretty good over time.
Never had a debit card or used an ATM machine.

Mostly CCs. The cash back perks rewarding you for paying off you bill makes it worth it.

I am not happy about PayPal reporting earnings over $600/ yr.

Poll: I use Credit Card (via Apple Pay - Apple Watch), because 1) it’s the simplest way to pay. 2) Cashback from Capital One. 3) Great purchase confirmation and tracking. I also carry cash for tipping and for those “cash is king” moments. I do have auto payment set up on the card to pay it off and avoid the charges, but I do keep a mental account in my head. Certain businesses don’t participate in contactless payments because they aggressively want to track you and avoid processing fees (Walmart/ Lowes, etc. - same members of the failed “alternative” payment method). I always have $20 bill tucked away for emergencies. I taught my kids early on to do that. Great for emergencies and always an “escape plan” for when they’re out and want out of whatever their situation is.

I use the ATM for cash, and use cash for day to day junk. I pay all of my bills with checks:anonymous:

I think my wife pays some of her bills online, not sure cause I dont really care as long as she pays them.:anonymous::anonymous:

I’ve had both of these situations. $15 co-pay, but no $5 for change… solution, bill me. My solution, I’ll pay them the next time I’m there. I love to screw up the new generation of cashiers that can’t do math, much less change. Total is 7.79… I’ll give them 13.04… aaaaand wait for my $5.25.

i'm on the indiana side, and for the longest time, indiana's slogan was "the birthplace of Lincoln"

i really don't get the fascination with Lincoln anymore. but visiting his gravesite was interesting, all the people rubbing his nose...

being a ripe old 37 year old, i'm getting to the age of enjoying screwing with the cashiers. "that'll be $15.05" i'll hand them a $20 and a nickel, and they get all confused.

i'm mostly debit these days for routine expenses, with cash for weekend 'splurging'-- meals/events..

how often does someone give you the speech that "you really need to be part of the system so you can be ranked as part of the system that you're not a part of"?

First the wary, confused look when you give them an odd amount , then the stunned look of surprise when the register displays them a round amount for the change.

I appreciate the clarification, wasn’t sure if hitting the brake in reverse did it, or the e-brake. Also never assume the guy your giving advice to is smart enough to use it lol. I was digging into the drivers side feeling good about the job I did on the passenger side, and I realized I had put the star adjusters on the wrong sides. Had to take it all apart and do it again! On the bright side, if anyone in the Kc area needs help with drum brakes, I got pretty good at them!

Costco Visa credit card pays for virtually everything we buy. Gotta get them cashback monies!

Paid off every month so we don't carry a balance, obviously.

I don't understand why people use debit cards.

There is no reward and no purchase protection.

    What am I missing?

not all retailers accept cc but do take dc
dc comes with most checking accounts
getting a decent cc when starting out in adult life can be hard

That exposed flywheel (I assume?) doesn't look dangerous at all.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Why I use a debit card the purchase is paid ! No bill coming that I completely forgot about .

After years of being debt free I am down to one credit card that is now maxed out at the $800.00 limit

Since I was not using those high limit cards they got canceled from lack of use.

    That is awesome.
Sometimes with the Wisconsin crank start engines the crank gets misplaced, that guy shouldn't have that problem. However he could break his hand/wrist if he got his hand in the wrong place.

The Wisconsin engines only crank one way and the crank is designed to (hopefully) disengage itself when the engine starts or if it kicks back. It doesn't always work out, many guys got sore wrists starting a cranky Wisconsin.

You can see the ramps on the crank socket below, a cautious guy would clean all the rust off before using.

    cool-vintage-wisconsin-engine-hand_1_4f45a67315ac7c54b34f0b2e0a60851e.jpg

You can see the roll pin the crank engages on in the photo below, also would want to clean the rust off this end as well, nobody wants an iron crank spinning around @1800 rpm.
