What amp should I use with the 2 RF 12’s? They don’t have a 800 watt 2 channel and the 1000w is out of my budget

These subs also seem to have good specs… https://www.crutchfield.com/p_500SW10D4/Alpine-S-W10D4.html the ideal sealed box volume is way closer to the box specs than the 12’s

i thought the product page pretty well summed up how they worked.

it's a 'port', but has foam or similar within it that predictably resists the airflow through it, making the box 'seem' larger to the sub than it really is. some call it a 'leaky box', it could also be considered a 'sluggish port'. either way, it's a method to further control the airflow of the subwoofer, just the same as altering the intake on an engine alters the engine's characteristics.

sealed boxes work on the pretense of separating the back acoustic wave from the front acoustic wave. but the air within the sealed box also acts as a 'spring' which will actively restrict cone movement. at extreme cone movements, the air within the enclosure will pull the cone back, raising the subs mechanical 'q'. a higher q to a point will create better response and sensitivity, but at the effect of spl. a lower q will result in better spl, at the effect of cone control/clarity.

these are really a bandaid for a too-small of box. the theory makes sense, i just don't know about reality. it's operating within the more obscure part of the audio world.

What's the budget? You could bridge them down to 1 ohm...

    2-DVC-4-ohm-mono-low-imp.jpg

    Cheapest I could find...

    For the RF12's:
    https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20646CX81T/Kicker-46CXA800-1T.html?tp=35834 $255 800w @ 1 ohm

    For the Alpines:
    https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20646CX12T/Kicker-46CXA1200-1T.html?tp=35834 $340 1200w @ 1ohm

Budget is $1000, so about $650 for subs + amp. Anyone know if those alpines are any good the specs seem good to me.

I like how these have the lower frequency over the RF 12’s https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20648CT124/Kicker-48CWRT124.html?tp=68897 could be paired with this amp https://www.crutchfield.com/p_20646CX12T/Kicker-46CXA1200-1T.html?tp=35834

When I first got my ‘06 DC, I bought a box from that company. Good build quality and perfect fit. I have no problems recommending them.

Started with one sub behind the rear seat on my 07. Added a 2nd one z year or more later. Move them over to my 2022, so I already had the subs and the amp arc X2 1000watt. That jl runs the front door speakers. I’m a firm believer in do it right the first time and only pay for it once

Pre built box but it works well in my truck with the Comp Q. Maybe someday when I’m not lazy I’ll build a custom box lol!

That is super clean.....ive got a JL W7-3....8in sub....love that thing trying to find a way to put it into my new 2022 access cab taco .....i would love a set of those shallow mount JL's......im wondering if i could possibly pull something like that off with my W7.....im pretty handy with woodworking tools ....had it in my reg cab 2006 Taco....it really rocked the cab along with my 250/1 JL amp.....
Did you have to uninstall the storage compartments in the floor or does that bench straddles over them???

I've got my midbass on the PDX, currently running a set of Peerless SLS 6.5's. I've also got the SI TM65 mkIV that I'm debating swapping too. The Sony handles the SI M25 mk2 tweeters and SI M3 carbons mids. Then I'm using the MiniDsp 8x12 DL for DSP.
