Can I just flip my axel over the leaf springs and bolt it back up with stock components? Or is there more I will need ??

You’re talking about going to a spring under axle from a spring over axle? You’re talking about taking the axle that sits under the leaf springs (current configuration) and putting it on top of the leaf springs?

If you’re talking about that you need to weld perches to the bottom of the axle and find a way to mount u bolts and u bolt plates, likely requiring you cut off the old spring perches.

Search the difference between the two, you absolutely can’t just flip the axle upside down to achieve having the spring perches contact the springs, the diff fluid drain will be on the top and the vent will be on the bottom and all the fluid will leak out.

Nope a flip kit just moves the ubolt plates from underneath to up top so they’re out of the way and don’t drag on stuff. It is not a SUA to SOA conversion.

From the factory the ubolts hang down and have a big ass plate, with a flip kit it looks like this

You can also I see that I should have moved my lower shock mounts a hair to the left when I welded them..the boot is catching on the ubolt plate .

@0xDEADBEEF his original post sure sounds like he wants to put the axle on top of the springs.

Seeing that picture made me consider going back and updating my rear shock relocation. The Deavers have so much more droop than the OEM + AAL pack.. but damn! The price of bypass shocks are insane!

But the lower shock mount placement defeats the purpose of the flip ubolt setup... The mount is still position as low as the factory ubolt location. That will still be your anchor point.

The main purpose of the flip kit is so that you can position the mount level or higher than the housing.

I convinced myself at the time that there must be some important reason it was that low - didn’t occur to me that reason was “because it’s convenient for Toyota.”

    I’ll fix it someday.

C56B573F-20AE-4637-B546-ECF0288E7392.jpg Mine doesn’t hang, but with my current leaf and weight I put myself in the no man’s land of really needing a shock that’s an inch shorter. Currently running 10” travel Fox resi’s, ~16-1/8” on the short stroke.

Even after flexing everything out and checking clearances and everything seems kosher I still manage to bottom out. I don’t have bump stops. Don’t shame me, I know that’s the reason I bottom out, I have the bump stops but in this case I just keep putting it off, but a great man once said, “I’ll fix it someday.”
