I texted my mechanic's work cell phone and the I discovered the instructions for contacting Carfax; I have notified them and sent them a picture of the odometer as proof.

Do you think they'll change it back?!?!

I guess I'll have Pete flush the coolant AGAIN the week after Christmas...

Could air lock damage the engine?

Mine was fixed pretty quickly after the discrepancy was found.

And what about airlock? I'm probably going to have Pete flush the coolant just for peace of mind because there is still residual oil in the reservoir.

    Could cause hot spots.

After looking at the coolant diagram, I would bet that not an issue here.

So just get the coolant flushed and call it a day? Why don't you think it's an issue?

Some motors you need to pull plugs out of the head for venting. Your motor seems pretty simple.

Chris, is my love and devotion to this truck unhealthy?

    Charlie,

    If I owned your truck.
I’d check to make sure the radiator was full.
Fill the coolant reservoir to the full line.
Drive it, and keep an eye on it.
As long as the truck isn’t getting hot, there isn’t much you can do.

    The coolant went somewhere.
It either leaked out, or went in to the cooling system (taking place of the air that was in there).
It’s not impossible that there was an air pocket in the system for this long. It’s just not typical.

Air lock usually shows up as a loss of heat from the HVAC, or the truck gets hot.

On most vehicles, it’s normal for the coolant to drop some after a coolant system has been refilled.
This usually happens with in the first few trips of driving the vehicles.
But can, in some instances, take longer.

I wouldn’t worry about anything unless you continue to lose coolant.
I would let your mechanics know you needed to top off the reservoir.
Just to keep a record for later. Just in case:thumbsup:

No, my father is the same way about his 96’ Ranger.
He won’t sell it. And it’s not really work fixing.
But he won’t let go of it. We’ve worn it out.

My truck does not run hot, and you could probably pop a bag of Orville Redenbacher's with the heat cranked...
