I'll get him to try that, maybe he and I can go shoot some next week while I'm off from the shop.

Every time he's missed I've tried to encourage him and not hurt his feelings anymore than they are but I've also been there and there's not much that can make you feel better at the moment.

He and I went to my buddies stand Saturday evening and a dandy walked out. It was right at last light, we had 4 minutes left we could shoot, could see good with scope and binos, all he knew was I told him he could shoot. He had no idea what it was......I had been watching two other ones in the binos trying to figure out how big they were. When I saw this one, I knew it was big and saw the rack

He and I are going back there this afternoon :fingerscrossed:

If he going thru puberty, then that would definitely help him calm down.

Make sure to reinforce this with him at every chance, let him know he isn't the first or the last, just a part of growing up.

    redline_tach-300x225.jpg

He is getting to the age where his body and brain are constantly going for the red line, his patience with the world and himself might have as much grip as bald tires on ice.

I think quiet Cole and Dad time with a bolt action 22 and a pile of rounds on paper targets is a great idea.

Many times in life to move ahead we need to get back and reinforce the basics that we feel we already know.

    You got this friend. :fistbump:

If there were more dads like you in the world who genuinely put in the effort there would be better young men out there and a lot better world.

Superstitions... Not about ghosts, spirits and such.

Jobs and machines however are a bit different, I have a few hard earned rules.
(aka: I got the shaft previously...)

    1) DO NOT jack with a good working carburetor.
    2) NEVER trust what the customer says.
    3) DO NOT count on workers to do the right thing - ever.
    4) Always start first where the last guy worked.
    5) If it absolutely has to start up tomorrow verify every part you intend to change before you start.
    6) Even though I know it doesn't matter I still never set a good battery on concrete. :notsure:
    7) Don't plan a big job counting on overnight shipping on a Friday.
    8) Don't touch the hand brake on a clunker you just bought until you have it home.
    9) If that "little voice" in your head says "you probably don't want to do that" - listen carefully.
    10) Yes, a 1/8" drill bit can find a 3/16" brake line... (It wasn't me. ;))

My dad wouldn't set a battery on concrete either, he'd always find a board to put under it.

Yes, the roots of that are from when batteries had rubber based cases that didn't have the high dielectric strength of modern plastic cased batteries and I know it no longer matters.

That said batteries are expensive and I still reach for a piece of wood every time to put under the battery.
:notsure: ... It makes me comfy.

About the only thing I do is "knock on wood" and then I knock twice on my head. It's more a commentary on my innate stupidity and less a belief in that superstition.

I don't believe in any of the common ones about ladders, mirrors, black cats or salt over the left shoulder.
