That's a pretty good cold snap for us. -15° is the lowest I've ever seen here and hitting negatives at all is pretty uncommon. We mostly hover in the low 20s and high teens through winter.

The hakone 86 is one I will always wish I could have bought when there was a new one at the local dealership, have yet to see one in the flesh.

Well be at a balmy 7* allegedly. Was 8* this morning. Don't mind the cold of there's snow on the ground.

Lowest I’ve personally seen here was -20 with a -50 windchill. Fun day. So cold it didn’t feel cold

The world needs more green cars! Would've looked awesome next to my green truck. I love the big power of my AMG but I miss the light and playful nature of my BRZ/86. Maybe one day I'll add another one to my fleet.

BRZ with a K swap (this allows for turbo) could quite possibly be the perfect vehicle and the swap kit is so well done that all the electronics and the AC even works like OEM after. I've seen two of the kits in the wild now. It solves the problem of the BRZ/FRS/86 having a glass/gutless engine perfectly.

Meh it was quick enough to get in trouble. Even the stock one was able to slide around plenty easy. I mean, I broke an axle with stock engine and tires so I don't have confidence with throwing more power through that rear end.

The rear ends are good, but the axles are weak, you can get upgraded ones in the kits as well as a stronger countershaft for the manual trans if you intended to turbo. Ultimately the stock Subaru FA piece of shit was lacking any pep when I drove one, I wouldn't want to own one without the swap. Might as well just have a miata without the swap, better handling and balance than the BRZ.

I think the Miata has a better gearbox feel but too much roll in the corners and the steering was good but the BRZ was better. Still top down fun is hard to beat hence why I would get the Abarth Fiata if I was seriously shopping in that space again, but they are considerably more expensive than first gen 86's.

    If I ever own a 86. It will get a 2gr. I just can’t do a 4cylinder

Rather have the K engine, better support and more strength. Not a fan of the 2GR at all

My brother (Air Force officer money) wants a small sportier car to go with his 03 Tundra. He’s between an earlier 86/BRZ/FRS or a newer Miata. Not sure what to tell him. The Toyota tax is real vs a Miata. Even though they’re not even really Toyotas.

K costs more to make more power than the gr. Hell the AR does 260hp at the wheels with cams and a short intake plenum. That’s way cheaper than building a K for similar n/a power. Boosted the limit on the ar seems to be around 450hp

stock block 2GR has done more than 700wheel horsepower too ran for a full year before it finally threw a rod.

the GR has lotus behind it at least. So it has some aftermarket support. The AR is just now getting going
