That’s high tech ! Last year I was told I have a slightly enlarged aorta and some slightly leaky valves :notsure:high cholesterol my whole life . I’m on a new injectable medication for 2 months now . I’m sure the Dr will order some labs to see if it’s working. I was told 73% of people my age (60) have the leaky valves :notsure:

Mark TY, I hope to have a backup generator solution installed in the coming year. My solution also incorporates a paver walkway from the front to the back of the house to replace an old sidewalk.

Mike: Nice carb/tool layout on the work bench. All parts and tools are laid out properly to work on the carb. When I was young, I did not care to work on carburetors, now I look at it as therapy.

Tim, the Medicare site has a lot of useful tools to help you make decisions. The Medicare part B plan comparison tool is useful. Best of luck with your decisions.

Good morning today is a physical therapy day. Yesterday was a wonderful day, lunch with the family and on to the B&O museum in Ellicott City Maryland. Wonderful day left home at 10:30 got back home a little after 5pm.

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/carb rebuilders. I have a carb balancing tool around somewhere, leftover from my SU/Stromberg balancing days. Not sure it will work on the Webers...

It's a confusing mess. We just went through it last year. The big things:
    • DON'T DELAY SIGNING UP. You could face higher costs in the future if you delay. Even if you're still working and covered by an employer, SIGN UP.
    • It's not really free. Part A is paid for by the feds, but when you start using Medicare you will pay a monthly amount for Part B.
    • There are two main options beyond Parts A and B, see next:
    • 1 - Supplemental or "Medigap" plans, which are designed to cover the stuff Medicare doesn't. "Plan A" through "Plan N" which makes for a dizzying mess to try and choose. Different levels of coverage at different costs. You will probably also want to add Part D drug coverage if you go this route.
    • 2 - Medicare Advantage plans (also called Part C), which cover all of the non-covered things + a drug plan + other stuff usually. These are very popular because they tend to have low up front costs, but their coverage varies a lot and it is possible to be caught with a pretty big medical bill depending on what happens to you and what they cover.
    • Medigap plans come in a bewildering number of flavors, even though the flavors are strictly defined by the feds.
    • Part D plans come in a bewildering number of flavors.
    • Advantage plans come in a bewildering number of flavors.
There's tons more than that but that's the basic layout. I did a lot of research, then ended up going to a broker anyway. If you do that, try to find one that works in your state specifically and also works with a variety of insurance companies. You want to be sure they're working in your best interests, not theirs.

:rain::pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Just a cold, light, drippy here. All day long they say.

In the modern, technical miracles department, I did manage to finally pair the little IPod MacMusic device to the amp, so another extra doo-dad gone. And I did get them connected to the Spectrum remote, but the disappointing lack of useful button features means I will need to keep the remotes handy. And since they talk to each other, when I turned the system on or off, the TV tells the amp to turn off, then the amp AUX control turns it back on! So, this morning, I made the amp not part of the remote anymore. Last issue I really have is the amp puts a Start Menu on the TV every time it turns on. I tried several things, and Sony support says they don't actually have a cure. Some of the Google cures worked, BUT, then either the remote didn't work, the ARC communication quit, or similar. :notsure: I have both remotes in the stand next to me. Technology is so wonderful!

Do some shopping for stocking stuffers and such today, and that's it except for football!

Medicare.Gov is a VERY good place to go. To get signed up, even when you haven't made a choice yet. There is a comparison too right on line, where you type in your Zip code, and ALL the available plans will show up, and you can directly compare them.. They also have a good book you can request that covers in detail what all the "Parts"are.
An important thing or two to remember, NOT ALL PLANS are available everywhere - which makes the tool very good. And they can vary even within your area! Example - my wife and I both have United Health Care plans. But she has a plan associated with Texas Teachers Retirement, and I have the AARP plan. Both cost the same, but we each get some different benefits, or versions of benefits. AND, the ads you see on TV for "free" are mostly snake oil. Look for reputable companies - the other ones tend to deny coverages, don't like to pay bills, etc.
Honestly, I pay LESS than I used to at work for actually better coverage and deductibles. I've compared plans the last three years, and stuck with the same one. I'd like better drug coverage, but that is the worst part of the system.

So I decided to add a little more crap to my Gen set up.
I decided to get a battery powered restore alarm for the power coming into
the house. So when the power gets back on it will alert me so I don’t run a
extra 2 hours of fuel through the gen.
Just something else to play with and look fancy lol

I’m not sure how that one works fully however I think you would need to go out and look
To see if the meter was on. Since it’s all self contained, I would suggest reading up on it.
The best part of that, like I said before, is no wires to run..
Mine disconnects right at the box so this measures for current before the connecting lug.

Mostly I read the mfg. stuff from Home Depot and various point of sale. I did bookmark my search so I can go read articles. Will require an electrician anyway, but I want to know how to tell him what I want. Lots simpler than what I was originally thinking.

The reason I didn’t go with it was my meter is on the side of the house and can be seen from the road and the gen would be sitting there. So were it is now, I’m close to the bulkhead and tucked away so someone may hear a gen but not know where it’s coming from.
Plus my source skills allowed me to pick up a gen, wiring, connectors, gen cable and have it hooked up for a price no one would believe.

i didn’t want to have another building/coop deal so I just do the box. The exhaust goes to the field. I’m not sure a building would make it quieter..
    Very similar setup to mine

We're a great pair in our household....my wife has started to mumble and I can't hear as well as I used to. I just make up gibberish to repeat back to her when I can't understand what she is saying. "What do you mean the dog ate my underwear?", "The bird farted in the tub?"
