Did some camping and wheeling in Joshua Tree and Alabama Hills this past weekend. We brought our BMX bikes in case we came across any skateparks. Didn’t end having enough time unfortunately, but we did manage to get a quick session in Joshua Tree while coming out of Berdoo Canyon.

Try lubing the shifter cable also. If you have the high, low and b-tension set properly, you're stuck dealing with a tension issue. If you have gunk in the line causing it to snag up, that could be enough to cause some shifting hiccups.

I think AXS is a cool concept. There’s two things that keep me from taking the plunge:

    1. I kill a derailleur a year doing unplanned trail maintenance, i.e. hitting rocks and moving them off the trail in the middle of rides. Even a GX AXS derailleur costs more than an XO Analog.

    2. Batteries, I know I’ll forget to charge them and then I’ll loose power in the middle of a ride. At which point I’ll be stuck with a single speed to get home or the TH.

I rode with a guy who had the AXS stuff, said that's why you need the wireless dropper also. If the derailleur battery dies, just snag the dropper battery to get you home.

Where's the fun in that? Just pull the grenade pin, toss and casually walk away. If you can't do that in an internet forum, where else can you?

@guitarjamman This is really your only viable option. Plus, I want to see it up close and in person and this is really the only way that's going to happen so...

May have to be a bama trip in order. Damn locals opened for a one day after all the past few weeks rain, just to close again for the current freeze/thaws.

I’m waiting for some parts to trim my brakes and bleed them. Me being dumb forgot and didn’t order till I received the brakes.

Could checkout ridebham and coldwater. Possibly sneak an Oak Mtn trip in there, they just opened a new trail sponsored by Fox

I’m game. Got two day shipping on my FF.

Haven’t put on any wrap and haven’t done my brake swap yet either. May not before a first ride (or few). In my last week at work for the year and it’s been nuts. Been suffering from zero ambition to tinker in the evenings. And it’s flipping cold in my shop haha.

The hide away/safety feature on the AXS derailleur works. I smacked mine of a few rocks on an extremely chunky ride a while back, heard it scrape, skipped a second and went right back and did not miss a single pedal stroke. At the end of the ride I had noticeable scrapes on cage and body. Definitely would have trashed the cage or hanger on cable actuated.

An extra battery is like 50.00, I carry a spare in my pack thinking the same way as you. Never had to use it (yet) but loaned it to a buddy who's battery died hour into a ride.

Chunk is all we ride in the Grand Junction/Fruita area.

The real problem is if I ride it and I like it then I need it on all I’d my bikes.
