Shop Time w/T.W. Friends

My tools are on caster tables that I roll out of the shop and I make sawdust outside. I then blow the sawdust into the woods. Inside is for assembly and finishing.

 

Lol. My knees are swapped out.

What part of SC are you?

We vacationing near Ft. Mill for the next 2 months. I won't be doing any shop work until I get back home in March.

 

With every kid I ever taught at the job I hammered "process" into their heads for many jobs.

"We all do it the same way, step by step, every time, no shortcuts, no exceptions."

None of them ever got hurt or seriously messed up any of those jobs so I'll call it a win.

At the job and at home I work alone all the time, if I get hurt I'm going to be there a
l-o-n-g time before someone comes looking for me.

 

Ever since i shot a nail up my nose....my wife is always checking on me. I thank her....one day i will have a massive heart event and she will hopefully be there to save my life.

 

You can't just drop that without details!!

 

Over 30 years in factories - I still carry ear plugs in my shirt pocket every day. Noise bothers me quite a bit, I wear ear plugs while running a shop vac or a grinder even.

Safety glasses too, I won't pick up a tool without them, I even wear them when mowing. The ones with bifocals were a game changer for me, tinted ones for outdoor work are a very inexpensive luxury.

Lol i salvage everything i can. Wife had driven past a house that was being remodeled and grabbed a couple short walls worth of studs...they were full of nails and i spent a couple hrs prying nails out of them....well, this STUPID stanley pry bar i have will fling a nail perfectly at ur head if the nail catches the edge of the hole when coming out. After dodging nails for a while one finally shot straight up my nose! Went in so far the head was flush with my nostril. Blood every where, my nose gushing, i ran inside for help...i thought it hit my brain. Wife pulled it out and again blood everywhere. Since then she takes her stabs every time she even sees me near a nail.

I gotta say...there's a good amount of humor in that story with a good amount of mixed in. Glad you're ok!!

 

The stars aligned for that nail that day. It had been in that wood since the 80s never knowing it would have another significant purpose in life.

 

Lol wife is looking for the picture now....i hope she doesnt find it. Lets hope it disappeared with her old phone! I looked pretty putiful with a nail up my nose and blood all over my face...yes she took a pic before pulling the nail. I agreed to it.

 

My cousin threw a pecan at me one time and it went up my nose.

(Just to clarify; in no way am I attempting to top your story )

 

Lol did u eat it after?? I would have if a pecan ever attacked me like that.. ida ate it before it could hurt another person. After that nail came out i promptly pounded in into a fence post.. back to the wood for it...malicious little thing.
