This morning while leaving for work I noticed the check engine/trac off light come on. I Immediately suspected rat chewing since I recently replaced the main wiring harness due to rat chewing in the engine bay a few months ago. However this time I already found a chewed wire on the passenger side within the clump of wires (green wire in pic).

Anyone think this may be causing the code or am I already due to replace the entire wiring harness once again? I'm having wishful thinking that it only chewed through the wire in the pic since last time only one wire was chewed as well. Crazy to see how much damage can be done in a short time period as I've been opening the hood weekly and spray peppermint repellant and wiping the surfaces.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I wonder if chili powder sprinkled on the wiring would stop that. That sucks

Not sure, that code is for Bank 2. The Bank 1 cam sensor has a green wire, bank 2 would be a Yellow wire and Blue wire.
That wire must go to something else.

I've already pulled it up on ebay but wondering if its even possible to layer every wire under the hood. You protect some wires but the rat will always find others...

Well I'm thinking about soldering that green wire first and see if I can clear that check engine light.

Look under the engine cover in the valley of the engine, they like to chew the cam sensor wires there.

Yes pull that engine cover as they got me under there wire and hose.
If enough wire to solder and heat shrink great or a heat shrink butt connecter.
They make underhood rodent lights and high freq noise for continued problems.

Critters do this to the hoses on gas grilles as well: very dangerous. One chewed through the hose to the aux burner on my gas grill. When I replaced the hose, the dealer told me about a long coil of flexible wire available that looks like a long silver spring to protect the expensive hoses. I found it on Amazon. You disconnect the the hoses from the manifold and slip the coil down over the rubber hose(s). The coils are close together so the critters can't reach the rubber to chew it. I wish the vehicle manufacturers would do this, especially on the harnesses under the hood. Mice chewed through the cable to the fuel tank and knocked out the fuel gauge on my father-in-law's Camry. Dealer advised it was because peanut oil is an ingredient they add to the rubber when they manufacture it. It cost big $$$ to r&r it.

Can you not wrap the wiring harness with a metal wire mesh ?

Got the wire fixed by soldering. Turned out it was the only issue. Trouble code is gone as well as the check engine trac off light.
