What happened?

 

I just read about an earthquake out in the desert, 6.0 which is a pretty damn good shake.

Apparently it happened in an area that usually means a much bigger one follows on the other side of the fault, closer to the inner/coastal parts of the state...they are saying CA is on major earthquake watch for the next 14 days





seriously though, we are overdue for a big one. They say every 20 years average and it's been what, 28 since the '94 quake that wrecked us over here

 

and before anyone gets excited thinking maybe we'll fall into the ocean, that's now how the fault lines work. If anything CA is edging closer and closer up into Oregon....sorry Oregon.

supposedly that's where it will end up in millions of years but I reckon most of the rest of the world will look pretty different then too

 

They're concerned about Mt Shasta blowing if the quake happens that far north I guess, if it did it could be Mt St Helens all over again

 

Sounds about right unless we find a way to move Alaska out of the way.

I probably should go get some gas for the generator lol. Last big Bay Area earthquake was the Loma Prieta in 1989.

My house is built on marshland, so liquefaction is a huge deal. The house is actually built on a 13” post tension slab specifically for that reason.
