The time could come where Tacoma resale values drop with the rest of the used vehicle prices. Tacomas will probably still have the highest resale value out of all used vehicles, but that price could come crashing down.

You are spot on, giving rise to the increase price for pre-owned vehicles. I purchased my Tacoma via CarMax in Dec ‘21 as the wait for a new build off the line was a min of 6 weeks out. I could have put a deposit down to secure my truck but couldn’t be without a vehicle that long. Thus, I purchased a pre-owned vehicle for close to the same price of new model build, albeit mine was only a model year older with 7,400 miles on it.

The 3rd year of a new Gen is ideal. Usually.

Show me a linked in profile of the "insiders" on here that decide when the 4th gen is coming out. Unless its Tetsuo “Ted” Ogawa or Toshio Niimi, it is just more speculation.[/QUOTE]
Holy crap buddy , 4Runner has been pushed until after the Tacoma
comments like this are ridiculous...if no one bought the first year's of a new gen then they would never know what is wrong . Also the vehicle would be discontinued

You can literally tell nothing by the heavy cladding. Sometimes it's made to delivery fool you, sometimes it's hiding body panels of the new model, and sometimes it's hiding a Frankenstein of mismatched parts thrown on while they're testing other things. I suspect this will somewhat resemble the new Tundra, but also be different. The Tundra has always had a ridiculous grille as of late while the Tacoma's has been much more reasonable so I wouldn't get hung up on that...yet. Until we start getting some leaked images more than the ones they showed during their EV unveiling, there's literally no information to go on.

I'm curious if the Gen 4 will be significantly "more different" than the Gen 3 than the Gen 3 was to the Gen 2. I feel like the Gen 3 should have been called the Gen 2.1

By all accounts, the Gen 4 will be significantly different.

I'm curious as to how much of a difference TNGA will make to the driver.

The frame may be more rigid doubt if the driver will feel that. Less body roll due to lower center of gravity on stock configurations, this will probably come at the expense of lock to lock turning radius. Smoother ride frombthe rear coil suspension, and probably larger front and the addition of a rear sway bar. The taco lean will be absent because the fuel tank will most likely be on the passenger side, I'm calling that Toyota's scrub tank design.

Are you talking about a driver-only induced lean?

    Yes

Everything I said is speculation based on what Toyota has done with TNGA-F Tundra and Sequoia.

Since the gen 2 is the same as gen 1. Gen 3 should have been called gen 1.2

The 3rd G is not just a good looking truck, but it also runs great!
